This guide describes how to install and configure a Red5-PLUS/EDGE-6xx controller. If you are using the
Proviso™ App, you will need an Android or iOS device with Proviso installed. Download the app for free from
Google Play or the App Store.
Installation
Follow all applicable electrical codes and regulations. Connect to a Class 2 power source only.
Wiring guidelines
The Red5 requires a 24 VDC/VAC power supply.
For power and I/O wiring, use 18 AWG 2-conductor copper wire.
For network cabling, use Cat5e or Cat6 cables.
Ground all devices according to Delta Controls Wiring and Installation Guidelines.
Up to 30 devices can be daisy chained using the ETH1 and ETH2 ports as long as the distance between the
devices does not exceed 100 m (330 ft). A bypass switch allows the devices to relay data in a power failure
scenario.
However, the maximum cable length is reduced by 15 m (50 ft) for each bypassed device.
Mounting the Red5
1. The Red5 comes in a plastic enclosure that is designed to be installed onto a 35 mm × 7.5 mm top-hat DIN
rail.
2. Mount the Red5in an appropriate location within packaged equipment or within another enclosure that
meets code requirements. Alternatively, the controller can be mounted with four screws (without using
DIN rail) via the 4 holes provided on the mounting clips.
Setup
Connecting to the Red5
There are three ways to connect your Red5:
Proviso App
Embedded Web Server
enteliWEB
Proviso App
To set up the Red5 using the Proviso app, you must have Bluetooth
®
and location services enabled on your
mobile device . For best performance, your device should support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) version 5.0 or
later.
1. Open the Proviso app and select Bluetooth for your connectivity method. Select a device to initiate a
connection. Nearby devices are listed by their Bluetooth MAC address.
2. A pairing request dialog displays. Select Pair.
3. Select Yes, Connect. You can now view device information in the Diagnostics tab.

Overview

The Red5-PLUS/EDGE-6xx is a controller designed for building automation and control systems. It can be installed and configured using various methods, including a mobile application (Proviso™ App), an embedded web server, or a comprehensive web-based platform (enteliWEB).

Function Description

The Red5-PLUS/EDGE-6xx controller facilitates the management and control of building systems. It supports daisy-chaining of up to 30 devices, allowing for scalable network configurations. A bypass switch is integrated to maintain data relay in the event of a power failure, enhancing system reliability. The device can be configured for both static IP addressing and DHCP, offering flexibility in network integration. It also incorporates security features, such as a 6-digit PIN for securing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) read/write access, to protect device settings and data.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Supply: Requires a 24VDC/VAC power supply.
  • Wiring:
    • For power and I/O, use 18 AWG 2-conductor copper wire.
    • For network cabling, use Cat5e or Cat6 cables.
  • Network Ports: Features ETH1 and ETH2 ports for network connections.
  • Daisy Chain Capability: Supports up to 30 devices in a daisy chain.
  • Maximum Cable Length (Daisy Chain): 100 m (330 ft) between devices.
  • Reduced Cable Length (with Bypass): Maximum cable length is reduced by 15 m (50 ft) for each bypassed device.
  • Mounting: Designed for installation onto a 35 mm × 7.5 mm top-hat DIN rail. Alternatively, it can be mounted with four screws using the provided mounting clips.
  • Bluetooth: Supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) version 5.0 or later for mobile app connectivity.

Usage Features

The Red5-PLUS/EDGE-6xx offers multiple ways to connect and configure the device, catering to different user preferences and technical environments:

  • Proviso™ App:
    • Requires an Android or iOS device with the Proviso app installed (downloadable from Google Play or the App Store).
    • Utilizes Bluetooth and location services on the mobile device.
    • Allows users to select the controller by its Bluetooth MAC address for connection.
    • Supports pairing requests and provides device information through a Diagnostics tab.
    • Configuration through the app involves navigating to Settings > Network, where users can assign a static IP address or leave it as DHCP.
    • Network connection types (IP, Ethernet, Secure Connect) can be configured.
    • Security settings, including a 6-digit PIN for BLE access, can be set.
