The DeltaTrak DT-8806H Non-Contact Forehead Infrared Thermometer (Model 15004) is a device specifically designed for measuring human body temperature without contact, regardless of room temperature. It can also be used to measure the surface temperature of objects like baby bottles, baths, or rooms.
Function Description:
This non-contact infrared thermometer provides precise measurements of temperature. It operates by detecting infrared energy emitted from the forehead or other surfaces. The device offers selectable "Body" and "Surface" modes to cater to different measurement needs. It includes an alarm function that can be set to a specific temperature threshold, with a default of 38°C (100.4°F). The thermometer automatically holds data and powers off to conserve battery life. It features an automatic selection range and a display resolution of 0.1°C (0.1°F), with a backlight LCD display for easy reading. The device stores up to 32 points of temperature data in its memory.

Usage Features:
The thermometer is designed for ease of use. Before first use or after changing batteries, it's recommended to wait at least 10 minutes for the device to warm up and acclimate to ambient temperature for 15 to 20 minutes. For body temperature measurement, the device should be aimed at the forehead from a distance of 5 cm to 15 cm (2 in to 5.9 in). It's crucial to ensure no hair, perspiration, cosmetics, or clothing covers the forehead as these can affect accuracy. If the room temperature is significantly different or there is perspiration, temperature can also be taken behind the ear lobe, ensuring the area is clear.
The device allows users to select between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) units. This is done by pressing the "MODE" button for 2 seconds until F1 is displayed, then using "DOWN" for Celsius or "UP" for Fahrenheit. The alarm threshold can be adjusted in the F2 menu, accessible by pressing "MODE" twice after F1. The "UP" and "DOWN" buttons increase or decrease the threshold by 0.1°C (0.1°F). A "Total Difference" (F3) function allows users to adjust the thermometer's reading to match a conventional thermometer, which is particularly useful for calibration in varying environmental conditions. This function is only effective in "Body" mode. The buzzer can be turned ON or OFF in the F4 (F3) menu, with a sound icon indicating it's on. To exit the setting mode, press the "MODE" button until the screen turns off.
The thermometer automatically stores the last 32 temperature measurements, which can be recalled using the "UP" or "DOWN" buttons. To delete all memory, power off the device, then press "UP" and "DOWN" together for two seconds, change the order number to 0, and press "MODE".
Maintenance Features:
To ensure the longevity and accuracy of the device, several maintenance guidelines are provided:
- Battery Replacement: When the LCD displays the battery symbol, the batteries are depleted and should be replaced. Only single-use AA batteries should be used; rechargeable batteries are not recommended. Old batteries should be removed promptly to prevent leakage and damage.
- Cleaning: The device surface should be cleaned with a cotton pad lightly moistened with 70% Isopropyl alcohol. Corrosive detergents should not be used.
- Protection: The protective glass covering the lens is the most fragile part and requires careful handling to prevent damage. The device should be kept away from water, heat, direct sunlight, and large electromagnetic fields. It should not be dropped or struck. The device should be stored in a dry environment and not placed in fire.
The DT-8806H is guaranteed for 40,000 measurements and conforms to several medical device and electrical equipment standards, including EN12470-5, ASTM E1965-1998, EN 980, EN 1041, EN 60601-1, and EN 60601-1-2. It has been tested for EMC compliance but should be used in environments free from high electromagnetic interference.
