Overview

The DEMA ATLAS 844P™ Series Laundry Control is a dispensing system designed for accurate delivery of chemical products to commercial laundry machines. It utilizes DEMA Quick Change peristaltic pumps for chemical delivery and features a durable, attractive ABS enclosure for easy access to internal components.

Function Description:

The core of the 844P system is the IQ-85 electronic control board, which supports up to 30 wash formulas. The system includes a Signal Transfer Unit (STU) for receiving trigger signals from the laundry machine and an optional handheld Enhanced Digital Select Module (EDSM) for remote interface, programming, formula selection, bleach defeat, and emergency stop functions. The STU and EDSM communicate with the IQ-85 via a low-voltage communication cable.

The 844P Laundry Master operates in three main modes:

  • Formula Select Mode: Allows programming of up to 30 different formulas, each activated by individual trigger sources from the laundry machine.
  • Sequence Mode: Programs the unit to count a single event from the laundry machine (e.g., drain valve operations) and operate pumps based on these counts. Up to 30 formulas can also be programmed in this mode.
  • Relay Mode: The IQ-85 acts as a relay board, operating pumps for the duration of a trigger signal from the laundry machine. A flush can be set to run with, and for an additional time after, each pump operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Requirement: 100VAC to 240VAC 50/60 Hz (±10%/-15% voltage acceptable).
  • Motor/Solenoid Rating: 24 VDC.
  • Case: High Impact material.
  • Trigger Signal Sources: Should be at least 24VAC but no higher than 240VAC 50/60Hz.
  • Flush Output: 24VDC signal for solenoid valve.
  • Operating Environment:
    • For Indoor Use Only.
    • Max Altitude: 2000 Meters.
    • Environmental Temp: 0 – 50 °C.
    • Installation Category: II.
    • Pollution Degree: II.

Usage Features:

  • "Plug and Play" Concept: Simplifies setup of electronic components.
  • 30 Wash Formula Capability: Provides flexibility for various laundry needs.
  • Remote Control (EDSM): Allows operators to select formulas, defeat bleach, and perform emergency stops from a distance. Without the EDSM, manual formula selection is done at the IQ-85 board.
  • Auto Formula Select: Formulas can be selected based on a trigger signal from the laundry machine. The 8th trigger input on the STU is used for this purpose. The signal duration determines the formula selected (Formula Number x 2 - 1 = Signal Time in seconds).
  • Pump Priming: Pumps can be primed manually via the 844P's front panel (LEFT arrow to select pump, ENTER to start/stop) or using the EDSM.
  • Emergency Stop: The "STOP" button on the EDSM immediately halts all pumps and flush operations and resets the system.
  • Load Counts: Displayed on the EDSM.
  • Pump Identification: Pumps are numbered 1 through 6 from left to right. Product labels are included for easy identification.

Maintenance Features:

  • Quick Change Peristaltic Pumps: Designed for easy replacement and maintenance.
  • Cleaning Instructions: External shell should be cleaned with a damp cloth. Avoid exposing the inside of the unit to moisture or direct water/chemical spray.
  • Tubing Connections: An optional installation kit provides LDPE tubing, pickup probes, and wire ties. Tubing should be measured, cut, and secured properly to prevent damage or leakage, keeping it away from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
  • Flush Switch Jumper: If a flush manifold is not used, a jumper must be connected between the "Flush SW" terminals on the IQ-85 control board for the pumps to operate. This jumper is factory-installed but should be verified.

Installation Considerations:

  • A complete survey of the laundry room is recommended before installation.
  • The Laundry Master enclosure should be mounted on a wall, allowing access to chemical containers and feed points, and kept away from moisture.
  • The STU should be mounted near or on the laundry machine, wired to trigger signal sources.
  • All electrical installations must comply with local electrical codes and be performed by a certified electrician. A ½” nonmetallic conduit system is required for the power cord.
  • Power connections: "hot" to L1, "return line" to L2, and ground wire to a suitable earth ground point.
  • If using a flush manifold, the solenoid valve must be rated for 24V DC and connected to the "FLUSH" output, and the manifold flush switch wired to "Flush SW" terminals.
  • Communication cables (RJ45 patch cords) between IQ-85, STU, and EDSM should be routed carefully, avoiding sharp edges, electrical motors, relays, and parallel runs with power lines to prevent interference.

Warranty:

DEMA products are warranted against defective material and workmanship for one year from the date of manufacture, under normal use and service. This warranty excludes normal wear parts (O-rings, diaphragms, squeeze-tubes, gaskets), damage from chemicals, corrosion, improper voltage, physical abuse, or misapplication. Alterations or repairs without prior DEMA approval void the warranty. Defective units or parts require a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number for return to the factory for repair or replacement.
