Design limitations for multi-spindle machines
regarding EFDO spindles
Here is the design equation related to the telescopic shaft em-
bedded on EFDO spindles. The EFDO design requires to
comply with:
L < d x A/C + B
Equation is applicable only when all constants are set to
values given in the chart below.
where:
L (mm) Total shaft + socket length
measured fully extended from
the front bearing to the socket
tip.
d (mm) Pattern diameter on wheel
multis or minimum distance
between spindle shafts
Constants of telescopic modules
Model A B

EFDO30-80 110 -46
EFDO40-180 202 -53
EFDO54-450 307 -57
To secure the mounting of telescopic modules, make sure
that:
- screws are quality class 12.9
- torques applied are 16 Nm for M6 and 40 Nm for M8.
If the application requires a longer shaft length than
given in the equation, it is advised to select a greater size
square drive.
Design limitations for multi-spindle machines
regarding EFD spindles
In order to provide greater resistance in such application, op-
tional telescopic modules can be added to the standard spin-
dles. Refer to the user manual 6159924120 for technical in-
formation and design guidelines. See below the use case and
the available range of telescopic modules :
