Why does my DeVilbiss FA153 Air Compressor tank pressure get too high?
    • C
      Christopher HansenJul 31, 2025
If the safety valve on your DeVilbiss Air Compressor is popping off due to excessive tank pressure, it could be because the pressure switch isn't shutting off the motor when the compressor reaches its cut-out pressure, or the pressure 'cut-out' is set too high. First, move the pressure switch lever to the “OFF” position. If the compressor doesn’t shut off, unplug it. If the electrical contacts are welded together, the pressure switch needs to be replaced. It is recommended to return the air compressor to an authorized dealer to check, adjust, or replace the switch.

What to do if my DeVilbiss Air Compressor has air leaks at fittings?
    • C
      Christine BookerAug 4, 2025
If you notice air leaks at the fittings of your DeVilbiss Air Compressor, the tube fittings might not be tight enough. Tighten the fittings where you hear air escaping. To help identify leaks, you can apply a soapy water solution to the fittings. Be careful not to overtighten them.

What to do if my DeVilbiss Air Compressor air tank is defective?
    • B
      Brian LoveAug 10, 2025
If your DeVilbiss Air Compressor has air leaks in the tank or at the tank welds, the air tank must be replaced. Do not attempt to repair the leak. It is important not to drill into, weld, or otherwise modify the air tank, as this will weaken it and could cause the tank to rupture or explode.

Why is my DeVilbiss FA153 leaking air at the pressure switch release valve?
    • D
      dale63Aug 14, 2025
If your DeVilbiss Air Compressor is leaking air at the pressure switch release valve, it could be due to a defective pressure release valve or a defective check valve. Replace the release valve. If the check valve is defective, it will cause a constant air leak at the pressure release valve when there is pressure in the tank and the compressor is shut off. Remove and clean or replace the check valve. Be careful not to overtighten.

      thomasmcfarlandAug 19, 2025
If you find air leaks at or inside the check valve of your DeVilbiss Air Compressor, the check valve may be defective or dirty. Remove and clean or replace the check valve, and be careful not to overtighten.

Why does regulated pressure drop when using my DeVilbiss FA153 Air Compressor?
    • S
      Susan BergerAug 26, 2025
It is normal for some pressure drop to occur on your DeVilbiss Air Compressor when an accessory is being used. However, if there is an excessive amount of pressure drop, adjust the regulator following the instructions on page 7. Note that you should adjust the regulated pressure under flow conditions, meaning while the accessory is in use.
