  Runs and sags in the paint finish when using a DeVilbiss Paint Sprayer can occur if there's too much material flow, the material is too thin, or the gun is tilted at an angle, or the gun motion is too slow. To fix this, adjust the gun or reduce the tip size, properly mix the material or apply light coats, and hold the gun at a right angle to the work surface while adapting proper gun technique.

  A thick, dimpled finish, often referred to as "orange peel," when using a DeVilbiss Paint Sprayer can result from several factors: the gun being too close to the surface, too much material being coarsely atomized, air pressure being too low, using an improper thinner, the material not being properly mixed, or the surface being rough, oily, or dirty. Check the distance, normally 6-8 inches. Turn in the fluid adjusting screw or change to a smaller tip size. Increase air pressure or reduce fluid flow. Follow the paint manufacturer's mixing instructions and properly clean and prepare the surface.

Adjust and lubricate the parts. Replace the tip and needle, clean the tip, and replace the spring, needle, or tip as necessary.
