Overview

This document serves as the instruction manual for Devola dehumidifiers, specifically models DV16L/DV16LWF and DV20L/DV20LWF. The device is designed to remove excessive moisture from the air, thereby reducing relative humidity and protecting buildings and their contents from the adverse effects of excess humidity. It utilizes R290 (propane) as a refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly with no damaging influence on the ozone layer (ODP) and a negligible greenhouse effect (GWP). Due to the flammability of R290, special precautions are outlined for its use and servicing.

Function Description:

The Devola dehumidifier operates by drawing in moist air, passing it over a cooling coil where moisture condenses, and then releasing drier air back into the room. The collected water is stored in a water tank or can be continuously drained via a hose. The unit features a digital display that indicates ambient humidity using a three-color system: blue for humidity below 45%, green for humidity between 45% and 65%, and red for humidity above 65%.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant: R290 (Propane) - flammable.
  • Dehumidification Capacity: Up to 20L/day.
  • Water Tank Capacity: 4L.
  • Operating Temperature Range: 5°C to 35°C.
  • Room Size Requirement: Install in rooms exceeding 4m² for safety due to the flammable refrigerant.
  • Power Source: Must be operated from a power source of equal voltage, frequency, and rating as indicated on the product rating label, and always use a grounded power outlet.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: Features buttons for Speed, Sleep/Reset, Lock, Timer, Mode, and Stand-By.
  • Modes:
    • Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts humidity levels. The fan and compressor start when environmental humidity is ≥ +3% of the set humidity and stop when it's ≤ set humidity -3%. Both fan speed and humidity can be adjusted in this mode.
    • Continuous Drying Mode: The machine runs continuously, and humidity cannot be adjusted.
    • Sleeping Mode: Activates the sleep function. Press and hold the sleep button for 3 seconds to reset the filter.
  • Humidity Adjustment: Humidity levels can be set in increments from 30% to 80% using the Up and Down buttons.
  • Timer Function: A 0-12 hour timer can be set in 1-hour increments to turn the machine on or off. "00" cancels the timer.
  • Fan Speed: Two speed settings (high and low) are available, adjustable only in automatic mode.
  • Child-Lock Function: Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate. It automatically cancels if the device is shut down or in case of power failure.
  • Auto-Defrost: Automatically defrosts at low temperatures.
  • Auto Shut-off/Auto Restart: The unit automatically shuts off when the water tank is full and restarts once the tank is emptied and reinstalled. It also restarts in the last selected mode after a power interruption.
  • Protective Delay: A 3-minute time delay for the compressor before resuming dehumidification.
  • Laundry Drying Function: Specific function for drying laundry.
  • Wi-Fi Function (DV16LWF and DV20LWF only): Allows operation via the "Smart Life-Smart Living" app (available for Android and iOS). Requires a permanent Wi-Fi connection to a router. The Wi-Fi indicator flashes rapidly when pairing and illuminates when connected.
  • Water Drainage:
    • Manual Draining: Emptying the 4L water tank when full. The unit buzzes and the "Water Full" light turns on.
    • Continuous Drainage: Connecting a PVC pipe to the drain outlet to direct water to a floor drain, outdoor area, or bucket. The drainpipe must be firmly connected and positioned lower than the outlet to prevent blockages and overflow.

Maintenance Features:

  • Air Filter Cleaning: The antibacterial filter should be cleaned every two weeks. Dust accumulation restricts airflow, reducing efficiency and potentially damaging the unit. The filter is removable and can be rinsed under running water or vacuumed. The unit should not be operated without the air filter.
  • Water Tank Cleaning: The water tank should be cleaned regularly with clean water. Avoid using detergents, steel wire balls, chemical dust removers, diesel, benzene, diluents, or other solvents, as these can damage the tank and cause leaks.
  • General Maintenance: Before any cleaning or maintenance, the unit must be turned off and unplugged from its power source to avoid electric shock.
  • Servicing: Only qualified technicians holding a current valid certificate from an industry-accredited assessment authority should service the refrigerant circuit. Work should be undertaken under controlled procedures to minimize ignition risk, with proper ventilation and fire extinguishing equipment available. Checks for refrigerant presence using appropriate detectors are necessary. Electrical components should be fit for purpose and follow manufacturer guidelines.
