Overview

The ULINE H-8931 DEWALT 10 Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum is a versatile cleaning appliance designed for both wet and dry pick-up tasks. It is a double-insulated device, meaning it provides two systems of insulation instead of grounding, which requires extreme care and knowledge of the system for servicing.

Function Description:

This wet/dry vacuum is primarily used for cleaning various materials, including dry debris and liquids. It can also function as a blower, allowing users to clear debris from surfaces. The vacuum is equipped with a float mechanism that automatically cuts off airflow when the liquid in the tank reaches a predetermined level, preventing damage to the motor during wet pick-up operations.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: H-8931 (DXV10SB)
  • Tank Capacity: 10 Gallons
  • Power: 120 V / 60 Hz / 10 A
  • Motor: Single Stage
  • Hose: 1 7/8" x 7' Durable Hose
  • Power Cord: 20'
  • Included Accessories:
    • Vacuum x 1
    • 1 7/8" Durable Hose x 1
    • Extension Wand x 2
    • Floor Nozzle x 1
    • Car Nozzle x 1
    • Round Brush x 1
    • Utility Nozzle x 1
    • Accessory Bag with Holder x 1
    • Disposable Filter Bag x 1
    • Cartridge Filter x 1

Usage Features:

  • Assembly:
    • Caster Assembly: The tank should be inverted, and casters aligned with indented grooves. Casters are then firmly pushed down and secured with a provided screw.
    • Accessory Bag Holder Bracket Assembly: The accessory bag holder is placed into the hole of the bracket.
  • Operation:
    • Initial Setup: Lid latches are pulled outward, the power head and any accessories are removed from the tank. Filters must be properly installed for the cleaning operation. The power head is then replaced, and latches are clamped securely.
    • Hose and Accessory Connection: The air hose end is inserted into the tank inlet. Extension wands are attached to the accessory end of the hose with slight pressure until tight. Cleaning accessories are then attached to the extension wands with a slight twist to tighten.
    • Powering On: The cord is plugged into a wall outlet, and the unit is turned "ON" by pushing the switch to the "ON" position.
    • Dry Pick-Up: The filter must always be in the correct position, completely covering the filter cage, to prevent leaks and damage. For very fine dust, the dust tank should be emptied and the filter cleaned or replaced more frequently. A dry filter is necessary for dry material pick-up; a wet filter will clog quickly.
    • Installing Disposable Filter Bag: The cardboard collar opening of the filter bag slides firmly onto the vacuum port deflector until it stops against the wall. The bag is positioned around the inside of the tank, and the power head is replaced and secured.
    • Wet Pick-Up: The cartridge filter must be positioned over the filter cage. If misting appears in the exhaust air, the cartridge filter is saturated and needs to be dried or replaced. After wet pick-up, the hose should be raised to drain excess liquid from the tank. The float mechanism automatically cuts off airflow when the tank is full; the vacuum should be turned off, unplugged, and the tank emptied to prevent motor damage. If the vacuum tips over and suction closes, it should be placed upright, and the switch turned off to reset the float.
    • Emptying the Tank: To empty, the power head assembly is removed by pulling outward on the lid clips. Tank contents are dumped into a waste disposal container. Liquids can be emptied through the tank drain by turning off the unit, removing the plug from the wall outlet, removing the drain cap, and depositing liquid waste into a suitable drain.
    • Blowing Operation: The 1 7/8" x 7' hose is inserted into the blowing port, and the vacuum is turned "ON."
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always unplug the power cord before servicing or installing parts.
    • Do not leave the appliance connected to a power source unattended.
    • Do not use the appliance as a toy or allow children to use it unsupervised.
    • Use only as described in the instructions.
    • Do not use with a damaged cord or plug.
    • Avoid pulling or carrying the appliance by the cord, or running the appliance over the cord.
    • Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.
    • Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and other obstructions.
    • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.
    • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
    • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, burning or smoking materials, explosive materials, hazardous/toxic/carcinogenic materials, or explosive liquids.
    • Do not use without filters in place (except for wet pick-up as described).
    • Do not use as a step ladder or place heavy objects on it.
    • Always wear proper personal hearing protection (ANSI S12.6/S3.19) and safety goggles (ANSI Z87.1/CSA Z94.3).
    • Wear a dust mask if the area is dusty.
    • Use only extension cords rated for outdoor use (marked W-A or W) and of adequate wire size (refer to the provided gauge table).

Maintenance Features:

  • Cartridge Filter Installation and Cleaning:
    • With the power head upside down, slide the cartridge filter over the lid cage and push the filter seals against the power head.
    • Turn the knob on the filter retainer clockwise to tighten.
    • To remove for cleaning, turn the filter knob counterclockwise until it aligns with the "Unlock" icon, then slide the filter off the lid cage.
    • Clean the cartridge filter by shaking or brushing off excess dirt or rinsing with water (from inside). Dry completely (approximately 24 hours) before re-installing.
    • After wet pick-up, the filter must be cleaned and dried before dry pick-up.
    • Check the filter for tears or small holes after cleaning; replace if damaged.
    • Clean the area of the lid before installing the filter to ensure a proper seal.
    • Clean filters outdoors, not in living quarters.
  • Cleaning the Unit:
    • Clean the outside with a cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap.
    • To clean the tank, dump out debris, wash thoroughly with warm water and mild soap, and wipe dry.
  • Storage:
    • Before storing, empty and clean the dust tank.
    • Wrap the cord and hang it on the unit.
    • Store accessories in the accessory holder.
