Router bit selection
Depending on processing and application, router bits are available in the most different designs and qualities:
Bit material Application
HSS (high-speed steel) Soft materials, e. g. softwood and plastic
HM (Carbide tipped)
Hard and abrasive materials, e. g. hard wood and light building materials such
as aluminium
WARNING: Use only routing tools whose allowable speed is at least as high as the
highest no-load speed of the machine.
The shank diameter of the router bit must correspond with the rated diameter of the tool holder (collets).
Installing/removing router bit
To install the bit
It is recommended to wear protective gloves when inserting or replacing router bits.
1. Keep the spindle lock button depressed and rotate the spindle until the spindle lock fully engages.
2. Loosen the collets nut using the wrench. Insert the shank of the router bit into the collets.
3. Keep the spindle lock button depressed and tighten the collets nut using the wrench.
4. Release the spindle lock.
