Thank you for purchasing the EdgeVis HD-IP250. This document explains how to physically configure the HD-IP250.
As well as identifying the available connectors and status indicators on the device, it also details how to add your
desired SIM card to it. This document should be read in conjunction with the IP Series, HD-Q800, 4K-R800 - Setup
Guide, which covers the web-based setup interface for all devices in the IP Series range, including the HD-IP250.

Overview

The EdgeVis HD-IP250 is a robust, ideally suited device for use in fixed installations for recording and live streaming of video from a single IP camera. It is designed to operate in indoor environments and can function in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C. The unit is powered by 12V DC.

Function Description:

The EdgeVis HD-IP250 functions as an encoder, capable of recording and transmitting video from an IP camera. It supports streaming over a 3G/4G cellular network, Wi-Fi, or a wired LAN connection. The device is designed for easy integration into existing systems, with various connectivity options for network and external storage. It can be managed and configured remotely via an EdgeVis Server or locally.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Input: 9 – 18V DC.
  • PoE Support: The PoE port is nominal 802.3af (802.3at Type 1) type that can produce 44-57V and supply up to 15.4W.
  • Network Connectivity:
    • LAN Port: For typical configuration and communications.
    • Camera LAN Port (with PoE support): For connecting to an IP camera.
    • Cellular Network: Supports various cellular modems including Skyaus DS (Modem: MC7354), Skyus 4G (Modem: MC7354), and Skyus DS2 (Modem: MC7455). It can also utilize NetComm LTE 4G and PocketPort 2 routers.
    • Wi-Fi Network: Supports Belkin N300 Micro Wireless USB Adapter (F7D2102) and Edimax EW-7811UN.
    • Wired LAN Connection: Supports various USB 2.0 Fast Ethernet Adapters, including Edimax EU-4028, Apple USB to Ethernet adapter, and UtechSmart USB 2.0 to 10/100 Fast Ethernet LAN Wired Network Adapter.
  • Video Output: Mini-DisplayPort video connector (not used for typical operation).
  • USB Ports:
    • USB 2.0 ports (2x) for Wi-Fi and modem.
    • USB 3.0 port (1x) recommended for external USB storage.
  • IP Addresses (Default):
    • LAN: 192.168.10.1 (Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0)
    • CAMERA: 192.168.11.1 (Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0)
    • USB Ethernet (not supplied): 192.168.12.1 (Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0)
  • Operating Temperature Limits (with fan enabled):
    • ON: -20°C / -4°F (Min), 60°C / 140°F (Max)
    • OFF: -20°C / -4°F (Min), 50°C / 122°F (Max)

    • 1080p quality video at 10 fps.

      • 1 fps, 1.4 Mbps: 32 days / 64 days
      • 6.25 fps, 3 Mbps: 16 days / 32 days

Usage Features:

  • Easy Setup: The device is designed for straightforward installation and setup. It can be configured via a web-based setup interface.
  • Flexible Connectivity: Supports various network types (cellular, Wi-Fi, LAN) allowing deployment in diverse environments.
  • Remote Management: Can be managed and configured remotely through an EdgeVis Server.
  • Local Management: Can also be managed locally, providing flexibility for different operational scenarios.
  • External Storage: Supports external USB storage for recording, allowing for expanded video storage capacity.
  • Fan Configuration: The unit includes a fan for cooling. Users can enable or disable the fan via the web interface under "Power Settings." Disabling the fan reduces the maximum stated operating temperature.
  • IP Camera Support: The device is compatible with a list of specific cameras, which can be found on the Digital Barriers Support Site.
  • Video Bearers: The HD-IP250 can use an external cellular modem for efficient streaming over commercially available cellular networks. It can also transmit using its inbuilt LAN port or optional Wi-Fi module.

Maintenance Features:

  • Firmware Updates: Firmware updates are available from the EdgeVis support site. Updates can be performed remotely via the EdgeVis Server or locally using a USB flash drive.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for troubleshooting common issues, including connection problems and power supply issues.
  • Safety Notes: Important safety precautions are outlined, including warnings about explosive zones, antenna placement, engine bay/compartment installation, fuel fill point proximity, and proper power supply connection.
  • Fan Maintenance: The fan should be kept clear of obstructions, and the exhaust slots should not be blocked to ensure proper cooling.
