This document is an owner's manual for the Dimplex Compact Stove, models CS33116A and CS4416/CS3311. It provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of the electric fireplace stove.
Function Description
The Dimplex Compact Stove is an electric fireplace designed to provide supplemental heat and the aesthetic appeal of a flame effect. It operates on a 120 VAC, 15 Amp circuit, and is intended for indoor use. The stove features a heater with a thermostat control, allowing users to adjust the room temperature to their desired level. The flame effect is generated by light bulbs located under the log set, creating the illusion of real flames and embers. The unit is equipped with a 3-Position switch for operation, offering manual control or remote control functionality. A temperature cutoff switch is integrated for safety, automatically turning off the heater if it overheats.
Usage Features
The Compact Stove offers straightforward operation with both manual and remote control options.
- 3-Position Switch: This switch has three settings: "O" for off, "MANUAL" for manual operation, and "" for remote control operation. In the "MANUAL" position, the built-in remote control is bypassed, and the unit is controlled directly. In the "" position, the stove can be turned on and off using the provided remote control.
- Heater On/Off Switch: This switch supplies power to the heater fan and element. When in the "I" (on) position, the heater will operate if the thermostat calls for heat.
- Heater Thermostat Control: To set the desired temperature, turn the thermostat control clockwise all the way to turn on the heater. Once the room reaches the desired temperature, turn the knob counter-clockwise until a click is heard. Leaving it in this position will maintain the room temperature at that setting. For additional heat, turn the knob clockwise until a click is heard again, and the heater will turn on. Note that when the heater is switched on, the fan will always operate, but the heating element may or may not be active depending on the thermostat setting.
- Remote Operation: The stove comes with an integrated On/Off remote control. To use the remote, ensure the stove's 3-Position Switch is set to the "" position. Before first use, pull the plastic insulator strip from between the remote casing and the battery cover. Press the "ON" button to turn the stove on and the "OFF" button to turn it off.
- Remote Initialization/Reprogramming: If the remote control stops working, it can be re-initialized. First, place the 3-Position Switch in the "O" (OFF) position. Wait a minimum of five seconds, then place the switch in the "" (Remote Control) position. Within 10 seconds of this change, press the "ON" button on the remote control. This synchronizes the remote and the fireplace receiver. It's crucial to perform the last step within 10 seconds, or the process will need to be repeated.
- Safety Features: The unit includes a temperature cutoff switch that automatically turns off the heater if it overheats. To reset it, switch the 3-Position Switch to Off ("O"), wait five minutes, and then switch the unit back on. If continuous resetting is required, it is advised to unplug the unit and contact customer service. The appliance also features a polarized plug to reduce the risk of electric shock, which should be plugged directly into an appropriate wall receptacle without the use of extension cords.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance, primarily involving light bulb replacement and cleaning, helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the Dimplex Compact Stove.
- Battery Replacement (Remote Control): To replace the remote control battery, slide the battery cover open. Install one (1) 12 Volt (A23) battery correctly in the battery holder, then close the cover. Batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly according to local regulations.
- Light Bulb Replacement: Light bulbs need replacement when a dark section appears in the flame effect or when the clarity and detail of the log exterior diminish. It is recommended to replace all light bulbs at the same time if they are nearing the end of their rated life to reduce the frequency of opening the unit.
- Tools Required: A Phillips screwdriver.
- Bulb Requirements: Two clear chandelier or candelabra bulbs with an E-12 (small) socket base, rated at 25 Watts.
- Procedure:
- Disconnect power to the unit before attempting any maintenance.
- Allow at least five minutes for the bulbs to cool to prevent burns.
- Remove the five screws from the access panel located on the back of the unit, and then remove the panel.
- Locate and examine the bulbs to determine if replacement is needed.
- Unscrew the old bulb(s) counter-clockwise.
- Insert and install new bulbs.
- Secure the access panel back onto the unit.
- Clear Door Panel Cleaning: The clear door panel may accumulate dust or fingerprints.
- For dust, lightly dust with a clean, dry cloth.
- For fingerprints or other marks, clean with a damp cloth and then completely dry with a lint-free cloth to prevent water spots.
- Important: Do not use abrasive cleaners or spray liquids on the clear door surface to prevent scratching.
- Compact Stove Surface Cleaning: Use warm water only to clean the painted surfaces of the stove. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Servicing: Beyond light bulb replacement and cleaning, any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative. This ensures that the unit remains safe and functional, and prevents voiding the warranty.
