Prepare Jobsite
Identify Hazards
Inspect jobsite before transporting equipment. Check for the following:
• overall grade or slope
• changes in elevation such as hills or open trenches
• obstacles such as buildings, railroad crossings, or streams
• signs of utilities
• traffic
• access
• soil type and condition
• loose material such as fencing or cable
Identify safety hazards and classify jobsite if attachment will penetrate ground. See “Classify Jobsite” on
page 23.

- gas or water meters
- drop boxes
- manhole covers
- utility facilities without overhead lines
- junction boxes
- light poles
- sunken ground
