Cleaningtheairlter(XD)
CAUTION: To prevent eye injury, always wear eye protection
whencleaningthelterwithcompressedair!
Donotusefueltocleantheairlter

Unhook the lter hood clips (1) with the combination tool and
remove the lter hood (2).
Pull out the choke (3) to prevent dirt particles from getting into
the carburetor.
Press together the clip (4) on both sides of the holder (5), unclip
it at the bottom and fold it up.
Remove the XD lter (6) and pull the felt prelter (7) from the
XD lter.
Take the foam lter (8) out of the hood (2).
The lters must be cleaned regularly at least once weekly, and
immediately in the event of poor starting, poor performance, or
increased fuel consumption (replace if necessary).
XDlter:
The XD lter (6) lters the incoming air through a
very ne system of paper ns. It must never be washed out
or cleaned with compressed air!Donottreatwithairlter
oil.
Carefully tap out the XD lter against a clean surface.
ReplacetheXDltereverysixmonths!
Caution: When using compressed air to clean the felt pre-
lter(7),thefoamlterinthehood(8),alwaysuseprotective
eyewear to prevent eye injury!
Donotcleantheairlterwithfuel!
Carefully clean the lters with compressed air, working from
inside to outside.
Caution: Excessive air pressure can destroy the lter. Replace
damaged lters immediately!
Feltprelter(7):
Carefully tap out, or carefully blow out from
the inside with compressed air. Do not use a brush for clean-
ing, since this can press dirt into the fabric. If the lter is very
dirty, wash it out in lukewarm water with regular dishwashing
liquid, and then let it dry thoroughly.
Replace the prelter if cleaning does not result in any detect-
able improvement in performance. Replacetheprelterev-
ery 3 months!
Foamlterinhood(8):
Carefully blow out with compressed
air. If the lter is very dirty, wash it out in lukewarm water with
regular dishwashing liquid.
Push the felt prelter (7) onto the XD air lter (6) and insert the
foam lter (8) into the lter hood (2).
Engage the clip (4) in the rear holder (9) in a vertical position,
place the air lter on the lter bottom, and swing the clip over
the lter base. Push the two ends of the clip together until it can
engage in the two retainers (5) on the lter bottom.
Makesuretheairlterisrmlyattached!
Push in the choke (3) and push the throttle all the way in to
deactivate the half-throttle lock.
Put on the lter hood (2) and hook in the clips (1).
