What to do if my DR Engine is hard to start and the spark plug is bad?

  If your DR Engine is difficult to start, inspect the spark plug. If it's in bad condition, clear it. For electrodes that are severely burn-damaged or insulators that are damaged, replace the spark plug. Ensure the electrodes gap is properly adjusted. Damaged high-tension lines, ignition coils, or a magneto that has lost magnetism should all be replaced. Adjust the gap between the ignition coil and flywheel if it's incorrect.

  If your DR Engine is difficult to start, issues within the piston ring or related components may be the cause. If the piston ring is worn, broken, or sticking, it should be replaced or cleaned of carbon fouling. Ensure the spark plug is tightly installed with a gasket. Check for air leakage between the cylinder block and cylinder head by inspecting the cylinder gasket and the flatness of the contacting surfaces. Air leakage in the valves requires checking the valve clearance and tightness, with repairs done as needed.
