Emptying the water trap
The liquid in the water trap may be contaminated and must be handled and disposed of with
care. Dispose of the liquid in an adequate way and in compliance with local regulations.
Risk of infection
WARNING
If the sample line remains connected while the water trap is being removed, contaminated
liquid may escape from the water trap. Disconnect the sample line from the water trap before
removing the water trap from the medical device.
Risk of infection
WARNING
When the water trap is full, gas measurement can fail. Check the filling level of the water trap
regularly and empty it as necessary.
Risk due to gas measurement failure
CAUTION
1. Remove the sample line from the water trap.
2. Press the grips of the water trap and pull outwards.
3. Insert an empty syringe
(C) with a filling volume of at least
20 mL without canula into the blue connector.
4. Extract water, remove syringe and dispose of full syringe as infectious hospital waste.
5. Push the water trap into the holder or adapter again until it audibly clicks into place and
connect the sample line.
