(b) Subsequent Maintenance Inspections
1 Perform all subsequent UXF-35 life preserver maintenance
inspections 60 months from the date of the last maintenance
inspection regardless of whether a life preserver has been
returned to service or removed from service and placed in
storage.
2 After the UXF-35 has successfully passed its first maintenance
inspection, complete documentation procedures described in
Step 10 and return the UXF-35 either to service or storage as
required.
(c) Nonscheduled Maintenance Inspections
1 UXF-35 life preservers removed from their container pouches,
functionally tested, inflated or deployed for demonstration
purposes, must undergo a maintenance inspection before being
returned to service regardless of the date of the last
maintenance inspection.
2 UXF-35 life preservers subjected to severe handling or adverse
conditions may require more frequent maintenance inspections
to ensure no damage has occurred to the life preserver.
5. SERVICE LIFE LIMIT
The Model UXF-35 life preserver has no prescribed ordained ultimate life, specified
service life, or life limit. The UXF-35 life preserver may remain in service indefinitely
as long as it continues to pass periodic maintenance inspection. Likewise, the service
life limit on any component of the life preserver including the water activated
light/battery or CO
2
cylinder is indefinite.
6. MAINTENANCE INSPECTION
A. General
The maintenance inspection of the UXF-35 is a series of procedures including
cleaning, visual inspections, and functional tests conducted on a regular basis to
ensure the good working performance of the UXF-35 Life Preserver.
The maintenance inspection of the UXF-35 is comprised of all the following
procedures:
