Fuzz Device! What to say about the Hoof that
hasn’t already been said? Our agship fuzz pedal can be found on thousands
on pedaboards around the world and has rocked countless stages from stinky
suburban basements to Madison Square Garden. Twice.
The Hoof is loosely based on the classic green Russian fuzz circuit and features
a hybrid Germanium / Silicon design, pairing maximum tone with maximum
temperature stability not found in nicky and expensive vintage units. We
hand-match our NOS Germanium transistors to exacting specications for
pedal-to-pedal consistency, taking the guesswork out of your fuzz purchase,
and guaranteeing that your Hoof delivers the same smooth, natural, and
harmonically rich sustain as all your friends’ Hoofs. All your friends have Hoof
fuzzes, right?
The Hoof has a wide gain range, providing everything from dirty and organic
amp-like overdrive, to monstrous fuzz madness. This, paired with the Shift
control allows you total tonal access, as the “Shift” knob works with the Tone
control to alter the overall frequency response of the Hoof.
Use the Shift to boost the highs for a glassy, cutting top-end; use it to cut
out some low-mid mud. Use it to add some thick stoner rock sludge. Use it
on bass; use it to combat the muff-style fuzz’s notorious “mid scoop.” Use it
however you’d like; just use it! The Hoof’s distinctive, fuzzy character is tight
and controlled without sacricing any “guts,” so to speak, so even the gnarliest
fuzz tones will sit well in the mix.
The Hoof fuzz is all-analog, true bypass, and built one-at-a-time by real life
human beans with four ngers and a thumb waiting in line for the horsey rides
at the rustic frontierland amusement park of Akron, Ohio, USA. (The Ofcial

Controls
Fuzz: Clockwise for heavy, counterclockwise for light.
Tone: Bass to the left, treble to the right
Level: Use this control to make the Hoof louder or quieter.

Power
This device takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative
center barrel. We always recommend pedal-specic, transformer-isolated wall-
wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. Pedals will make extra
noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy
chains and non-pedal specic power supplies do not lter dirty power as well
and let through unwanted noise. DO NOT RUN AT HIGHER VOLTAGES!

Switching
This device is true bypass and uses electronic relay-based switching. Audio
will not pass without power.

Pedal ist auf Tausenden von Pedalboards auf der ganzen Welt zu nden und
hat schon unzählige Bühnen gerockt – von stinkenden Vorstadtkellern bis zum

Der Hoof basiert in etwa auf der Fuzz-Schaltung des klassischen grünen Russen
und verfügt über ein Hybrid-Design aus Germanium/Silicon-Transistoren,
das maximalen Klang bei maximaler Temperaturstabilität bietet, was in den
ausgefuchsten, teuren Vintage-Einheiten oft nicht der Fall ist. Wir passen unsere
NOS-Germanium-Transistoren an die genauen Spezikationen für Pedal-zu-
Pedal-Konsistenz an und sorgen dafür, dass Ihr Hoof das gleiche geschmeidige,
natürliche und harmonisch-reiche Sustain liefert, wie die Hoofs Ihrer Freunde. Ihre
Freunde haben doch alle ein Hoof-Fuzz, oder?
Der Hoof verfügt über einen breiten Gain-Bereich, der vom dreckigen und
organischen amp-artigen Overdrive bis hin zu monströsem Fuzz-Wahnsinn alles
bedienen kann. Dies ermöglicht zusammen mit dem “Shift”-Regler die totale
Einussnahme auf den Klang, da der “Shift”-Regler zusammen mit dem “Tone”-
Regler den Gesamtfrequenzgang des Hoofs verändert.
Verwenden Sie die “Shift”-Regler, um die Höhen für ein glasiges, schneidendes Top-
End zu verstärken; oder verwenden Sie ihn, um Tiefmitten-Matsch zu verhindern;
verwenden Sie ihn, um etwas Matsch für fetten Stoner-Rock hinzuzufügen;
verwenden Sie mit dem Bass; verwenden Sie ihn, um den berüchtigten “Mid-
Scoop” des Muff-Style-Fuzz zu bekämpfen; verwenden Sie ihn, wie Sie wollen,
aber tun Sie es! Der unverwechselbare Fuzz-Charakter des Hoofs ist tight und
kontrolliert, ohne auf dünn zu sein, so dass sich sogar die gnadenlosesten Fuzz-
Sounds gut im Mix durchsetzen.
Der Hoof Fuzz ist ein rein analog, True Bypass und wird von echten menschlichen
Wesen mit vier Fingern und einem Daumen, die in der Schlange für die

Regler
Fuzz: Im Uhrzeigersinn für starke, gegen den Uhrzeigersinn für leichte Verzerrung.
Tone: Bass links, Treble rechts
Level: Verwenden Sie diesen Regler, um den Hoof lauter oder leiser zu machen.
Shift: Regelt den Mittenanteil, im Uhrzeigersinn werden die Mitten abgesenkt,
gegen den Uhrzeigersinn angehoben.
Stromversorgung
Dieses Gerät sollte mit einem Standard-9V-Netzteil betrieben werden (2,1mm,
center negative). Wir empfehlen immer für Pedale bestimmte, isolierte Netzteile oder
eine Stromversorgung mit mehreren isolierten Anschlüssen. Pedale produzieren
Störgeräusche, wenn sie mit unreinem Strom versorgt werden. Schaltnetzteile,
Daisychains und nicht auf Pedale ausgelegte Netzteile ltern verschmutzten Strom
nicht zufriedenstellend und produzieren ungewollte Störgeräusche. NICHT MIT
HÖHEREN VOLTZAHLEN BETREIBEN!

Schaltung

Il pedale Hoof si basa vagamente sul circuito fuzz in stile Muff del classico Green
Russian, e presenta un design ibrido Germanio / Silicone che abbina il meglio
della timbrica alla massima stabilità in termini di temperatura – caratteristica non
presente nelle più costose unità vintage.
Procediamo abbinando i nostri transistor NOS al germanio a speciche stringenti
per mantenere la coerenza da pedale a pedale, garantendo che il tuo pedale Hoof
possa restituire un sustain omogeneo, naturale e ricco di armoniche.
Hoof possiede una gamma di guadagno molto ampia, capace di fornire ogni tipo
di sonorità compresa tra gli effetti overdrive sporchi e organici tipo unità amp,
alle tibriche fuzz più imponenti. Questo, unitamente all’uso del controllo Shift,
permette un controllo tonale totale, in quanto la manopola Shift opera insieme al
controllo Tone per alterare la risposta in frequenza del pedale Hoof.
Il controllo Shift può essere impiegato per intensicare le alte frequenze ed
ottenere una parte alta trasparente e aflata; per tagliare la sonorità indistinta
e confusa delle parte medio-bassa, per conferire un carattere rock di maggior
spessore e intensità, per congurare Hoof ad essere utilizzato con il basso,
oppure per contrastare il noto fenomeno “mid scoop” degli effetti fuzz.
Il carattere fuzzy che distingue il pedale Hoof è preciso e controllato, per cui anche
le timbriche fuzz più intense in termini di guadagno sapranno inserirsi al meglio
nel mix.
Controlli
Fuzz: Effetto più pesante ruotando in senso orario, più leggero in senso antiorario.
Tone: Bassi in senso antiorario, alti in senso orario.
Level: Controlla il livello di uscita.
Shift: Regola il contenuto delle frequenze medie. In senso orario per le classiche
frequenze medie scavate, in senso antiorario per frequenze medie dalla sonorità
moderna.
Alimentazione
I nostri pedali fanno uso di alimentatori DC standard a 9 volt, dotati di connettore
barrel da 2.1mm con polo negativo al centro. Raccomandiamo sempre l’uso di
alimentatori specici per pedali, con trasformatore isolato di tipo da parete, oppure
alimentatori con uscite multiple isolate. I pedali generano rumore extra nel caso in
cui l’alimentazione presenti un’oscillazione residua o sia poco pulita. Gli alimentatori
di tipo switching, quelli per il collegamento a catena oppure gli alimentatori non
specici per pedali, non ltrano l’alimentazione non pulita e lasciano passare
rumori indesiderati. NON OPERARE MAI CON TENSIONI PIÙ ELEVATE!
