What to do if Eaton Vickers CG-03 Control Unit has low or no pressure?
    • B
      Brenda ChurchAug 11, 2025
If your Eaton Control Unit exhibits low or no pressure, several factors could be responsible. First, the valve may be improperly adjusted; in this case, adjust the valve to the proper setting. Another potential cause is an open vent connection, which can be resolved by plugging the vent connection. A plugged balance hole in the piston can also lead to this issue; remove the piston and clean it out. Finally, the poppet in the cover might not be seating correctly. If necessary, drain the system and refill it with clean fluid. Try backing off the adjusting screw several turns while running the pump to ensure no foreign matter is caught on the seat. If the problem persists, inspect the condition of the seat, spring, and poppet.

Why is my Eaton Vickers CG-03 Control Unit making excessive noise or chattering?
    • C
      Carolyn VazquezAug 20, 2025
Excessive noise or chatter in your Eaton Control Unit can stem from several issues. High oil velocity through the valve might be the cause; check the valve flow rating and replace it with a larger valve if necessary. A distorted control spring can also lead to this problem, so replace the spring. Other potential causes include a worn poppet or seat in the cover (replace the poppet and seat), excessive tank line pressure (connect the return port directly to the tank), a vent line that is too long (place a restriction, such as a needle valve or orifice plug, in the vent line next to the relief valve), or a valve setting too close to the system operating pressure (set the relief valve at least 150 PSI higher than other valves in the circuit).

How to fix erratic pressure in Eaton Control Unit?
    • D
      Daniel TorresAug 31, 2025
To address erratic pressure in your Eaton Control Unit, start by checking for foreign matter in the system. If present, drain, flush, and refill the system with clean fluid. Another possible cause is a worn poppet or seat in the cover, which would require replacing the poppet and seat. Lastly, inspect the piston for sticking in the body or cover. If sticking, clean the piston and remove any burrs by light lapping. Ensure it moves freely upon reassembly, and replace it if necessary.
