Do you have a question about the ebm-papst R3G140-AW05-49 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document outlines the operating instructions for an ebm-papst device, providing essential information for its safe and effective use, maintenance, and disposal. The device is designed as a built-in component for conveying air, adhering to specific technical data and operational parameters.

Function Description

The device functions primarily as an air-conveying unit, designed for integration into stationary systems. It operates within a specified ambient air pressure range and temperature range, ensuring consistent performance. The fan is equipped with integrated protective features that automatically switch off the motor in case of faults such as rotor position detection errors or a blocked rotor. In the event of a blockage, the motor will automatically restart once the obstruction is removed.

The device incorporates electronic motor protection, including power and motor current limitation, soft start functionality, overvoltage detection, thermal overload protection for electronics/motor, and line undervoltage detection. It features a control input for 0-10 VDC / PWM, allowing for adjustable speed control, and a Tach output for monitoring. The control interface is safely disconnected from the mains with SELV potential.

Usage Features

The device is intended for use in stationary systems only, conveying air within an ambient air pressure range of 800 mbar to 1050 mbar and within its permitted ambient temperature range. It must always be operated with all protective devices in place and in accordance with these operating instructions. Proper installation is crucial, ensuring the device is securely positioned and free from vibration. If connected to air ducts, the connection should be isolated from vibration using compensators or similar elements.

Electrical connection requires careful attention to safety regulations. The device is a built-in component and lacks a disconnecting switch, so it must be connected to circuits that can be switched off with an all-pole disconnection switch. It is imperative to connect a protective earth first and verify its integrity. Only cables meeting specified installation regulations for voltage, current, insulation material, and capacity should be used. The protective earth must have a cross-section equal to or greater than that of the phase conductor.

When using a residual current device (RCD), only pulse-current sensitive and/or AC/DC-sensitive types (type A or B) are permissible. The device's locked-rotor protection ensures that the starting current is equal to or less than the nominal current. Cables, including the customer interface, must conform to internal wiring specifications and applicable standards, and the degree of protection in the final product must be checked after installation.

The device should not be operated in an unbalanced state, with severe vibration, or close to flammable materials. Conveying air with abrasive particles, highly corrosive air (unless specifically designed for it), or high dust content is prohibited. Operation in an explosive atmosphere or using the device as a safety component is also forbidden.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance of the device is straightforward, focusing on inspection and cleaning. Users are explicitly advised not to perform any repairs on the device; instead, it should be sent to ebm-papst for repair or replacement.

Regular safety inspections are recommended every six months. These inspections include checking the contact protection cover for intactness or damage, inspecting the device for damage to blades and housing, verifying the fastening of cables, and ensuring the fastening of the protective earth terminal. The insulation of cables should be checked for damage, and the impeller should be inspected for wear, deposits, or corrosion. Any identified issues, such as damaged covers, cables, or impellers, should lead to repair or replacement. Loose fastenings should be tightened, and dirty impellers should be cleaned.

Cleaning the device requires adherence to specific guidelines to prevent damage. It should not be cleaned using a water jet or high-pressure cleaner. Acid, alkali, or solvent-based cleaning agents are prohibited, as are pointed or sharp-edged objects.

In cases of motor/electronics overtemperature due to deficient cooling or high ambient temperature, cooling should be improved, or the ambient temperature reduced. If the error message persists, the line voltage should be switched off for at least 25 seconds and then switched on again. If the overtemperature is due to an impermissible point of operation, the operating point should be corrected.

If the impeller is not running smoothly due to an imbalance, the device should be cleaned. If the imbalance persists after cleaning, the device should be replaced, ensuring no weight clips are removed during cleaning. If the motor is not turning due to mechanical blockage, it should be switched off, isolated from the supply, and the blockage removed. In case of faulty line voltage, the line voltage should be checked, power supply restored, and control signal applied. For faulty connections, the device should be isolated from the supply, and connections corrected according to the connection diagram.

For devices that have been out of use for some time, such as those in storage, it is recommended to switch them on for at least two hours to evaporate any condensation and move the bearings.

Disposal of the product and its components must follow country-specific legal requirements. Disassembly should be performed or supervised by qualified personnel, separating components into categories such as steel and iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metal, plastics, insulating materials, cables and wires, and electronic scrap for recycling. Ferrite magnets can be disposed of with normal iron and steel. Electrical insulating materials are to be treated similarly.
