7 PROBLEM SOLVING
CAUTION
Before carrying out any maintenance, repair work or adjustment,
Stop the pump, close the isolation valve and wait for 3 minutes.
Press the emergency stop button and switch off the voltage.
Depressurize the pump by venting the process side of the pump, if it is safe to do so.
Open and lock the isolating switch.
Lock the air inlet valve during maintenance or repair.
The operator must apply all relevant safety precautions.
Before electrical maintenance
CAUTION
Before carrying out any adjustments on the pump, the first action that must be taken is isolating the pump
from the customer’s network.
Faults and remedies:
No voltage or wrong voltage
Overload protection has tripped
Compare electrical data mentioned on data
plate/instruction book with setting of overload
protection.
Adjust setting of overload when setpoint is not correct
Check if foreign material has entered the pump.
If necessary install an inlet filter to prevent foreign
material entering the pump
Air consumption exceeds air delivery of
pump
Check equipment connected
Too high pressure drop between
process and pump inlet (Vacuum pump)
or pump outlet (Overpressure pump)
Check the process lines for correct size and for leakage.
Correct if necessary
Pump element out of order
Check vacuum relief valve (Vacuum
pump) or safety valve (Overpressure
pump)
Check rotation direction of the motor
Change rotation direction of the motor
Inlet non-return valve is blocked
Internal parts are worn or damaged
Insufficient cooling air or cooling air
temperature or relative humidity to
high
Check for cooling air restriction or improve ventilation
of the pump room.
Avoid recirculating of cooling air.
If installed, check capacity of pump room fan.
Pump element out of order
Ambient temperature too high
