11 Disposal
11.1 Safety
The refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit is pressurised.
Protective goggles and safety gloves must be worn when working on the refrigerant
circuit.
Escaping refrigerant can lead to serious injury of the eyes and skin as well as
respiratory distress (displacement of oxygen in the air).
11.1.1 Personnel qualification
This cooling unit must only be disposed of by personnel who fulfil the following requirements:
Have read and understood Chap. 2 Safety
Knowledge of materials
Knowledge of the hazardous material ordinance
Note
All work on the refrigerant circuit must be carried out by trained refrigeration
specialists. Comply with the local laws and regulations.
11.2 Procedure
The disposal of the cooling unit and its components must be carried out in accordance with the
locally applicable legislation.
After definitive decommissioning of the cooling unit, all components must be taken for
professional disposal or recycling in the interest of environmental protection:
Refrigerant (refrigerant circuit) and refrigerant oil (compressor) must be drained by an
authorised refrigeration company and properly disposed of.
Separate out and sort plastic parts
Sort metal parts according to type of metal
Dispose of electrical components in the proper manner
