Short block
Attention: Always do a leakdown test to check
gaskets and crankseals.
Short block with thermal ange and gasket (Fig.1).
Remove the 4 cylinder screws. When reassembling
tighten in X4 mode (Fig.2).
Slide cylinder off carefully to avoid breaking the piston
rings (Fig.3).
Check the piston rings for excessive wear. See section
on Piston failure analysis (Fig.4).
