Overview

The Effenne Inova is a patented vacuum packing appliance designed for home use, offering a system to extend the shelf life of various food items.

Function Description:

The Effenne Inova operates by reducing the absolute air pressure inside a bag or container, thereby removing oxygen and volatile compounds that contribute to food deterioration. This process helps to prevent oxidation, microbial proliferation (bacteria and mold), and freezer burn, thus preserving the nutritional values, flavor, and overall quality of food for longer periods. The appliance is versatile, allowing for vacuum packing in specially designed bags, Executive containers, Family containers, glass jars with metal caps, and bottles with bottle caps. It features an ON/SEAL indicator light that is steadily lit during the vacuum-forming phase and flashes during the final sealing phase, turning off when the machine is ready to be opened. A manual lid valve allows for interruption of the packing cycle or opening the lid at the end. LOCK buttons secure the lid during operation and release automatically. The device includes a sealing bar for creating airtight seals on bags, airtight gaskets to maintain vacuum in the chamber, and a vacuum chamber to collect excess liquids.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage: 230V~50Hz 130W (also available in 115V~60Hz 1.1A, 220V~60Hz, 100V~50/60Hz configurations)
  • Weight: 2.3 Kg (1.5 Kg for 115V~60Hz 1.1A)
  • Dimensions: 38 (L) x 15 (D) x 8 (H) cm
  • Marking: CE
  • Approvals: (S) for 230V~50Hz 130W, (UL) for 115V~60Hz 1.1A
  • Compatibility: Electromagnetic compatibility designed to meet current requirements.
  • Usage: Not designed for continuous operation; allow 2 minutes between complete cycles to prevent thermal protection devices from activating.

Usage Features:

The Effenne Inova offers several features for convenient and effective vacuum packing:

  • Bag Creation from Rolls: Users can unroll the desired length of MAGIC VAC® roll, cut it using the integrated MAGIC Cutter (12), and then seal one open side to create a custom-sized bag. The smooth side of the bag should face down on the sealing gasket (8).
  • Vacuum Packing with Pre-cut Bags or Bags from Rolls: Food is placed in the bag, ensuring no creases or tension, and any liquids or food residues are removed from the sealing area. The open end of the bag is positioned inside the vacuum chamber (9) with the smooth side facing down. The lid (2) is closed, and the LOCK buttons (5) are pressed to initiate the automatic vacuum packing and sealing cycle. The manual valve (3) is pressed to open the lid after the cycle.
  • Vacuum Packing in Executive Containers and Universal Caps (new knob): These accessories feature a star-shaped knob (L) and a central hole for direct hose connection (M). Containers should be filled with at least 3 cm of space from the top. The knob is turned to "VACUUM," the hose (13) connects the knob to the appliance air inlet (4), and the lid (2) is locked with buttons (5). After the cycle, the hose is removed, and the knob is turned to "CLOSED." To open, turn the knob to "OPEN" to release the vacuum.
  • Vacuum Packing in Family Containers: Similar to Executive containers, these are multi-purpose and transparent. The container lid connects to the air inlet (4) via the hose (13) (N). The lid (2) is locked (5), and after the cycle, the central button (14) is pressed to open.
  • Vacuum Packing in Glass Jars with Metal Caps (Leifheit type): A large-sized cap attachment (15) is used for wide-mouthed jars, connected to the air inlet (4) via the hose (13). The cap attachment is placed directly on the jar with its metal cap (16) and pressed down (O). The lid (2) is locked (5). After the cycle, the cap attachment is removed, and the ring (17) is screwed down. To open, the provided cap opener (P) is used to gently pry open the cap.
  • Vacuum Packing with Bottle Caps: The MAGIC VAC® Bottle Cap (18) is used for wine or non-fizzy beverages. The hose (13) connects the bottle cap to the air inlet (4) (Q). The lid (2) is locked (5). After the cycle, the hose is removed. To open, simply pull the cap out.
  • Interruption of Cycle: The vacuum packing cycle can be interrupted at any time by pressing the manual valve (3) until the machine turns off.
  • Food Preparation: For delicate foods like meat, fish, berries, or bread, pre-freezing is recommended. Soups and stews should be pre-frozen in a pan or dish. Vegetables should be blanched before vacuum packing. Sharp-edged foods should be padded with paper towels to prevent bag perforation. Fragile items like strawberries or biscuits are best stored in containers.
  • Storage Recommendations: Perishable foods should be kept in the freezer or fridge. Vacuum packing extends shelf life but does not make food stable at ambient temperature. Dried foods benefit from vacuum packing and should be stored in a cool, dark place.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wash hands thoroughly before cleaning. External surfaces should be cleaned with a damp sponge and mild dishwashing detergent (non-abrasive, non-solvent). Avoid liquids entering the appliance. If this occurs, do not plug it in and contact an authorized service center.
  • Removable Lower Part: The lower part (10) is entirely removable and dishwasher-safe (top rack) for maximum hygiene (R).
  • Gasket Cleaning: Before washing the lower part, remove the airtight gasket (7) (S) and sealing gasket (8) (T). Clean both gaskets with a damp sponge and mild dishwashing liquid, then allow them to dry completely before re-positioning.
  • Accessory Cleaning: All MAGIC VAC® accessories (containers, caps, jars, etc.) should be washed like regular kitchen utensils and dried completely. If using a dishwasher, place them on the top rack.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues such as the appliance not working, incomplete vacuum, or improper sealing, with steps to check connections, gaskets, and bag integrity. For example, if the appliance overheats, it will automatically shut off and needs 15 minutes to cool down.
