2. Sensor Unit Setup
1) Time Synchronization between the Sensor Unit and Main Unit
a. Turn on the Main Unit power
b. Adjust the Main Unit time as necessary
c. Connect the Main Unit and Sensor Unit with modular cable.
d. Turn on the Sensor Unit power. The LED lamp beside the power supply switch starts to blink.
The Sensor Unit time is synchronized with the Main Unit automatically.
※ Once the time synchronization is completed, do not turn off the Sensor Unit power. If
the Sensor Unit power is turned off, the internal clock setting will be cleared.
When error message appears, check for Sensor Unit power switch or modular cable connection; make
sure the Sensor Unit is not turned to OFF.
For more details on error message, see [8-2. Starting MP-11] and [9-2. Error & Warning Messages]
2) Measurement With/Without Modular Cable
Select either to take measurement with or without the modular cable connection.
Taking measurements without modular cable connection:
The data saved in the Sensor Unit need to be downloaded to the Main Unit after the measurements.
※ When using MP-11 without modular cable, make sure to insert batteries in Sensor Unit.
※ When using Sensor Unit with batteries, LED lamp blinks every 1sec; when LED lamp
starts to blink every 0.5sec, it means the battery is low. Please replace the batteries.
※ If the battery power is low, Sensor Unit may restart when modular cable is
connected/disconnected or Main Power is powered ON/OFF. There is no effect to the
data saving and data loading functions; however, the batteries need to be replaced.
Taking measurements with the modular cable connection:
The measurement data from the Sensor Unit can be
monitored on the Main Unit in real time, and no need to be
downloaded after the measurement.
3) Sensor Unit Setting using Angle Capturer
a. Set the Pyranometer Switch on the back side of the Sensor
Unit to “INT” (integrated small pyranometer).
b. Remove the Angle Capturer from the Sensor Unit.
c. Place the Angle Capturer on the subjected PV
d. Panel surface then adjust the level using the integrated spirit
level.
e. Confirm the shades of marker positions, which are marked on
the Angle Capturer dome, on the screen scale (see the image
“a” on the right); keep the record of this position by writing
down or taking a picture.
f. Place Sensor Unit near the PV panel where it does not get
shaded and set the Angle Capturer back on Sun Sensor Unit.
g. Adjust the Sun Sensor direction and angles using the
adjusting screws on the sides of the Sun Sensor unit, so that
the shades of the dome markers are in the same position as
in the earlier step (see image “b” on the right); once the
position is determined, tighten the side adjusting screws.
