Overview

This document is a user manual for an Electrolux ENN2812BOW fridge freezer.

Function Description

The Electrolux ENN2812BOW is a fridge freezer designed for normal domestic use, intended for keeping foodstuffs and/or beverages. It features separate refrigerator and freezer compartments. The appliance uses isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Dimensions of the recess:
    • Height: 1780 mm
    • Width: 560 mm
    • Depth: 550 mm
  • Rising Time: 22 hours
  • Voltage: 230-240 V
  • Frequency: 50 Hz
  • Climate Class: The appliance is designed for specific ambient temperatures:
    • SN: +10°C to +32°C
    • N: +16°C to +32°C
    • ST: +16°C to +38°C
    • T: +16°C to +43°C
  • Electrical Connection: Single-phase supply of 230 V. Rating of in-line fuses (one per phase): 10 A at 230 V. The power supply socket must have an earth connection and be accessible.
  • Refrigerant: Isobutane (R600a).

Usage Features

  • Switching On/Off: Insert the plug and turn the temperature regulator clockwise to a medium setting to switch on. Turn the regulator to "O" to switch off.
  • Temperature Regulation: The temperature is automatically regulated. Users can adjust the temperature by turning the regulator: lower settings for minimum coldness, higher settings for maximum coldness. A medium setting is generally recommended. The actual temperature inside depends on room temperature, door opening frequency, food quantity, and appliance location. If ambient temperature is high or the appliance is fully loaded and set to the lowest temperatures, continuous running may cause frost; in this case, set to a higher temperature to allow automatic defrosting and reduce energy consumption.
  • Temperature Indicator (Refrigerator): The refrigerator is fitted with a temperature indicator. A symbol indicates the coldest area (from the glass shelf of the fruit and vegetable drawer to the symbol or a shelf at the same height). For proper food storage, the indicator should display "OK". If "OK" is not displayed, adjust the temperature controller to a colder setting and wait 12 hours before rechecking. The "OK" message may temporarily disappear after adding fresh food or frequent door openings.
  • Freezing Fresh Food: The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and long-term storage of frozen/deep-frozen food. No temperature change is needed for freezing fresh foods. Place fresh food on shelves in contact with cold side walls.
  • Storage of Frozen Food: When starting up or after a period of disuse, run the appliance for at least 2 hours on higher settings before loading products. In case of accidental defrosting (e.g., power failure exceeding "rising time"), defrosted food must be consumed quickly or cooked immediately and then re-frozen (after cooling).
  • Thawing: Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at room temperature. Small pieces can be cooked directly from frozen, but cooking time will be longer.
  • Ice-Cube Production: The appliance includes trays for ice-cube production. Fill with water and place in the freezer compartment. Do not use metallic instruments to remove trays.
  • Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls have supports for positioning shelves at desired heights.
  • Humidity Control: The glass shelf includes a device with adjustable slits (sliding lever) to regulate temperature in the vegetable drawer(s). Closing the slots preserves natural moisture; opening them increases air circulation and lowers moisture content.
  • FREESTORE Function: This function allows for rapid cooling of foods and a more uniform temperature in the compartment. It is activated by pressing switch (1), and a green light (2) indicates it's on. Recommended when ambient temperature exceeds 25°C.
  • Positioning Door Shelves: Door shelves can be adjusted to different heights to accommodate various package sizes. To adjust, pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows until it comes free, then reposition.
  • Hints for Energy Saving: Avoid frequent or prolonged door openings. If ambient temperature is high, the regulator is set low, and the appliance is fully loaded, continuous compressor operation may cause frost; adjust the regulator to warmer settings to allow defrosting and save energy.
  • Hints for Fresh Food Refrigeration: Do not store warm food or evaporating liquids. Cover or wrap food, especially strong-flavored items. Position food for free air circulation. Store meat for 1-2 days wrapped in polythene bags on the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer. Cooked foods should be covered. Clean fruits and vegetables thoroughly and place in drawers; keep citruses in separate containers to prevent plastic discoloration. Store butter and cheese in airtight containers or wrapped in foil/polythene. Bottles should be capped and stored in the bottle rack. Do not store bananas, potatoes, onions, or garlic in the refrigerator unless packed.
  • Hints for Freezing: The maximum freezing quantity in 24 hours is on the rating plate. Freezing takes 24 hours; do not add more food during this period. Freeze only top-quality, fresh, and clean foodstuffs. Prepare food in small portions. Wrap food in airtight aluminum foil or polythene. Avoid contact between fresh and already frozen food. Lean foods store better and longer. Salt reduces storage life. Ice lollies can cause frost burns if consumed directly from the freezer. Mark freezing date on packs.
  • Hints for Storage of Frozen Food: Ensure commercially frozen foodstuffs were adequately stored by the retailer. Transfer frozen foodstuffs from store to freezer quickly. Avoid frequent or prolonged door openings. Do not exceed manufacturer's storage period. Do not refreeze defrosted food.

Maintenance Features

  • Periodic Cleaning:
    • Clean the interior and accessories with lukewarm water and neutral soap.
    • Regularly check and wipe door seals to ensure they are clean and free from debris.
    • Rinse and dry thoroughly.
    • Clean the condenser (black grill) and compressor at the back with a brush to improve performance and save electricity.
    • Do not use detergents, abrasive powders, highly perfumed cleaning products, or wax polishes on the interior.
    • Do not use metal objects or sharp objects to clean the appliance or remove frost. Use a plastic scraper.
    • Clean the exterior casing with warm water and a little washing-up liquid.
    • Disconnect from mains before cleaning.
  • Defrosting the Refrigerator: Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator during normal use when the compressor stops. Defrost water drains through a hole into a special container at the back, where it evaporates over the compressor. Periodically clean the defrost water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartment channel to prevent overflow.
  • Defrosting the Freezer: Defrost when the frost layer reaches 3-5 mm thickness.
    1. About 12 hours prior, set the temperature regulator to higher settings to build up chill reserve.
    2. Switch off the appliance.
    3. Remove stored food, wrap it in newspaper, and place in a cool area.
    4. Leave the door open.
    5. To speed up defrosting, place a pot of warm water in the freezer compartment. Remove ice pieces as they break away.
    6. Once defrosting is complete, dry the interior thoroughly.
    7. Switch on the appliance.
    8. After 2-3 hours, reload the food.
    • Caution: Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands. Never use sharp metal tools or mechanical devices to scrape frost.
  • Replacing the Lamp:
    1. Disconnect the plug from the mains socket.
    2. Expand fingers up and down the transparent cover and unhook it in the direction of the arrows.
