This document is a user manual for an Electrolux ENN2801AOW fridge-freezer. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, daily use, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of the appliance.
Function Description
The Electrolux ENN2801AOW is a fridge-freezer designed for household use to store foodstuffs and beverages. It features a refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment, allowing for both fresh food preservation and long-term storage of frozen items. The appliance uses isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant, a natural gas with high environmental compatibility.
Usage Features
The fridge-freezer offers several features to optimize food storage and user convenience:
- Temperature Regulation: The temperature is automatically regulated, but users can adjust it using a temperature regulator. Turning the regulator towards lower settings provides minimum coldness, while higher settings provide maximum coldness. A medium setting is generally recommended, with the exact setting depending on room temperature, door opening frequency, food quantity, and appliance location.
- Ambient Switch Function: An Ambient Switch function can be activated when the room temperature is below +16°C. This function helps maintain optimal performance in cooler environments.
- Freezing Fresh Food: The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food. For small quantities, users can activate the Ambient Switch, place food on the upper freezer drawer, and then deactivate the switch once freezing is complete. For larger quantities, the Ambient Switch should be activated at least 24 hours before placing food, and then deactivated after 24 hours when freezing is complete. It is advised not to add more food during the freezing process.
- Storage of Frozen Food: For best performance, commercially frozen foodstuffs should be adequately stored by the retailer and transferred to the freezer quickly. Users should avoid frequent or prolonged door openings and ensure that defrosted food is not refrozen.
- Thawing: Frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at room temperature. Small pieces can be cooked directly from frozen, though this will take longer.
- Ice-Cube Production: The appliance includes trays for making ice cubes. Users fill these with water and place them in the freezer. Metallic instruments should not be used to remove the trays.
- Cold Accumulators: The freezer contains at least one cold accumulator to extend storage time during power cuts or breakdowns.
- Movable Shelves: The refrigerator compartment is equipped with runners, allowing shelves to be positioned at various heights to accommodate different food items.
- Positioning Door Shelves: Door shelves can also be adjusted to different heights by pulling them out and repositioning them as needed, providing flexible storage for various package sizes.
- Humidity Control: A glass shelf with adjustable ventilation slits (controlled by a sliding lever) allows users to regulate the temperature and humidity in the vegetable drawer(s). Closing the slits preserves natural moisture, while opening them increases air circulation and lowers moisture content.
Maintenance Features
The manual outlines several maintenance procedures to ensure the appliance's longevity and efficient operation:
- Cleaning the Interior: Before first use, and periodically thereafter, the interior and accessories should be washed with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then thoroughly dried. Abrasive powders or metal objects should not be used.
- Periodic Cleaning: The appliance should be cleaned regularly. This includes checking and wiping door seals, and rinsing and drying thoroughly. The condenser (black grill) and compressor at the back should be cleaned with a brush to improve performance and save electricity. The outer casing should be cleaned with warm water and a little washing-up liquid.
- Defrosting the Refrigerator: The refrigerator compartment automatically defrosts. Defrost water drains into a special container at the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. The defrost water drain hole in the refrigerator channel should be periodically cleaned using the provided cleaner to prevent water overflow.
- Defrosting the Freezer: The freezer compartment requires manual defrosting when the frost layer reaches 3-5 mm. To do this, the appliance should be switched off, stored food removed and placed in a cool area, and the door left open. A plastic scraper should be used to remove frost, with a basin placed underneath to collect water. Placing a pot of warm water inside can speed up the process. After defrosting, the interior should be dried thoroughly. Sharp metal tools should not be used.
- Replacing the Lamp: Instructions are provided for safely replacing the interior lamp, which involves disconnecting the mains plug, removing the lamp cover, replacing the bulb with one of the same power designed for household appliances, and reassembling.
- Closing the Door: To ensure proper door closure, users should clean the door gaskets, adjust the door if necessary (referring to installation instructions), and replace defective gaskets by contacting the Service Center.
- Periods of Non-Operation: For long periods of non-use, the appliance should be disconnected from the electricity supply, all food removed, defrosted and cleaned, and the door(s) left ajar to prevent unpleasant smells.
