Overview

This document describes the Electrolux and Westinghouse Electronic Dishwashers, covering various models including SB907SJ, SB907WJ, SB915KJ, SB915SJ, SB915WJ, and SB925SJ, with different variants indicated by a *05 or *06 suffix. The manual provides comprehensive information on the dishwasher's function, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The dishwashers are designed for automated cleaning of dishes and kitchenware. They feature a range of wash programs tailored to different soil levels and item types, including Heavy, Normal, Normal Eco, Fragile, and Rinse cycles. The SB925SJ model incorporates a Sensor program that detects the level of dirtiness (Dirty or Clean) and adjusts the wash cycle accordingly.

The core function involves a multi-stage wash process:

  • Pre-wash: An initial rinse to remove loose food particles.
  • Main Wash: The primary cleaning cycle with detergent, operating at various temperatures depending on the selected program (e.g., 55°C, 60°C, 68°C, 45°C, 50°C).
  • Rinse: One or two rinsing stages to remove detergent residue. Some models include a Hot Rinse for enhanced sanitation.
  • Dry: A final drying phase to ensure dishes are ready for storage.

The dishwashers utilize a sump, pump, and water system to circulate water and detergent. Key components include a recirculation pump for washing, a drain pump for water removal, and an inlet valve for water intake. A heating element ensures optimal wash and rinse temperatures.

Safety features are integrated into the design, such as a flood control system that detects overfill and a pressure switch to monitor water levels. The SB925SJ model includes a turbidity sensor to assess water clarity, allowing the dishwasher to optimize wash performance.

Usage Features

The control panel provides an intuitive interface for selecting programs and managing settings. Models like the SB907 feature "Prewash," "Wash," "Rinse," and "Dry" indicators, along with program options like "Rinse," "Fragile Eco," "Normal," and "Heavy." The SB915 and SB925 models offer similar indicators, with "Sensor" replacing "Prewash" and "Fandry" replacing "Dry."

Program Selection: Users can select a desired wash program based on the load's soil level and type of dishes. The "Normal Eco" program is highlighted for its energy and water-saving benefits, though it may result in reduced drying performance.

Child Lock Option: A crucial safety feature, the Child Lock prevents unintended operation. It has three states:

  1. Child Lock On: Activated by pressing and holding the "Lock" button for 5 seconds in program selection mode. Program indicators will flash, and the "LOCK" indicator will remain on.
  2. Temporarily Unlock: When Child Lock is active, all buttons remain active for selecting and starting a wash cycle. The Child Lock auto-engages 15 seconds after the last button press, with the "LOCK" indicator flashing during this period.
  3. Child Lock Off: To permanently disable Child Lock, users must first temporarily unlock it, then press and hold the "LOCK" button for 5 seconds. All program indicators will flash, and the "LOCK" indicator will also flash before turning off, indicating the unit is back in program selection mode.

Boosted Dry Option: Available on SB907, SB915, and SB925 models, this customer option enhances drying performance by increasing temperature and time during the final rinse. To activate, select "Normal" or "Normal-Eco" program, then simultaneously press "PROGRAM" and "START." The estimated wash time on the display will increase, and on Model 907, the "Dry" progress indicator will illuminate for 3 seconds. Press "START" to begin. This setting remains active for subsequent cycles until turned off by repeating the activation steps. The Boosted Dry option is not applicable to "Rinse" or "Fragile" wash programs.

Helpful Hints:

  • Rinse Aid: Sufficient rinse aid is essential for good drying, especially for plastic dishes. Even with '3-in-1' detergent tablets, additional rinse aid may be needed in hard water areas.
  • Hidden Heating Element: The hidden heating element allows dishwasher-proof plastic dishes to be safely placed in the bottom basket.
  • Door Handle: The door handle facilitates easy opening, but the door can also be opened without using the handle as a safety feature.
  • Wash Time Adjustment: On 915 and 925 models, the initial wash time displayed may vary as the dishwasher adjusts based on wash load and water conditions.

Maintenance Features

The manual includes a "Fault Recall and Output Test" section, designed for electrically qualified service technicians, to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.

Fault Indication: The dishwasher provides visual and audible fault indications through LED lights and buzzer beeps. For example:

  • "No Fault": All LEDs off.
  • "Not Filling": "Prewash" LED on, repeated single beep.
  • "Not Draining": "Wash" LED on, repeated double beeps.
  • "Flood Control": "Prewash" + "Wash" LEDs on, repeated triple beeps.
  • "Re-Circ. Pump Triac Short Circuit": "Prewash" + "Rinse" LEDs on, repeated 4 beeps.
  • "Not Heating": "Wash" + "Rinse" LEDs on, no beep.
  • "NTC Fault": "Prewash" + "Wash" + "Rinse" LEDs on, no beep.
  • "EEPROM Fault": "Dry" LED on, no beep.
  • "MCF/CCF Check Sum Fault": "Prewash" + "Dry" LEDs on, no beep.
  • "Turbidity Sensor Fault" (SB925 only): "Prewash" + "Wash" + "Dry" LEDs on, no beep.
  • "Tacho Fault": "Prewash" + "Rinse" + "Dry" LEDs on, no beep.
  • "Filling Time Fault": "Prewash" + "Wash" + "Rinse" + "Dry" LEDs on, no beep.

These indications help technicians quickly identify the root cause of a problem. The fault codes shown by phase indication LEDs are only displayed when calling the 'Fault Recall' in Service Functions.

Output Test: This mode allows technicians to test individual components:

  • Regeneration Valve: "Rinse" LED, 4 buzzer beeps.
  • Drain Pump: "Prewash" + "Rinse" LEDs, 5 buzzer beeps.
  • Inlet Valve: "Wash" + "Rinse" LEDs, 6 buzzer beeps (only when pressure switch is not set).
  • Heater: "Prewash" + "Wash" + "Rinse" LEDs, 7 buzzer beeps (only when pressure switch is set).
  • Recirculation Pump: "Dry" LED, 8 buzzer beeps.
  • Detergent Dispenser: "Prewash" + "Dry" LEDs, 9 buzzer beeps.
  • Drying Fan: "Wash" + "Dry" LEDs, 10 buzzer beeps (not fitted in some models).

The manual also provides a "Component Resistance and Measurement" section, detailing the expected resistance values for various electrical components like the power cable & ON/OFF button, heater, pressure switch, door switch, dispenser, temperature sensor (NTC), tachometer, fan motor, inlet valve & flood switch, wash motor, and drain motor. This information is crucial for technicians to verify component functionality using a multimeter. The NTC temperature sensor's resistance varies with temperature, with a table provided for different values (e.g., 9653 Ohm at 10°C, 445 Ohm at 90°C).

The document emphasizes the importance of using original spare parts for repairs and provides part numbers for various components, including cabinet and base assembly, liner assembly, door assemblies for different models, sump, pump, water system, and basket assembly. This ensures proper fit and function during maintenance.
