Overview

The PACSystems RX3i CPE330 is a robust and feature-rich programmable controller CPU designed for industrial automation applications. It boasts a 1GHz dual-core microprocessor and 64Mbytes of built-in program memory, making it suitable for complex control tasks and data-intensive operations. Its metal housing ensures superior noise immunity, crucial for reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.

Function Description

The CPE330 is programmed and configured using Emerson's PAC Machine Edition (PME) software via Ethernet. It integrates into the RX3i main rack and supports a wide range of RX3i I/O and Intelligent Option modules, accommodating up to 32K I/O points. Key functionalities include:

  • Hot Standby Redundancy: Supports RX3i Hot Standby Redundancy with PROFINET I/O (using embedded PROFINET or rack-mounted IC695PNC001 PROFINET Controllers) and with Ethernet Global Data (EGD) & Genius I/O.
  • Simplex PROFINET I/O Controller: Functions as a simplex PROFINET I/O Controller, supporting up to 32 I/O devices with update rates from 1 to 512ms. Faster update rates (8ms) are possible with 16 or fewer devices, while 16ms and higher rates are available for more than 16 devices.
  • Dual Ethernet LANs: Features two independent 10/100/1000 Ethernet LANs. LAN1 connects via a dedicated upper RJ-45 connector, while LAN2 uses a lower pair of internally-switched RJ-45 connectors.
  • Dedicated Microprocessor Core for Ethernet: A dedicated microprocessor core supports the embedded Ethernet interface, enabling:
    • Up to 48 simultaneous SRTP Server connections.
    • Up to 16 simultaneous Modbus/TCP Server connections.
    • 32 Clients (SRTP or Modbus/TCP).
    • OPC UA Server with support for up to 5 concurrent sessions, up to 10 concurrent variable subscriptions, and up to 12,500 variables.
    • Up to 255 simultaneous Class 1 Ethernet Global Data (EGD) exchanges.
    • Two independent Redundant IP addresses, one for each embedded Ethernet LAN.
  • Achilles Level 2 Communications Certification: Ensures secure and reliable communication.
  • Secure Firmware Update: Authenticates new firmware before installation, reverting to the current version if non-authentic firmware is detected.
  • SNTP Client: Allows synchronization of the high-resolution Time of Day Clock to an SNTP network time server.
  • Optional Energy Pack Support: With the IC695ACC402 Energy Pack, the CPE330 can instantly save user memory to non-volatile storage during power loss.
  • Removable Data Storage Device (RDSD) Support: Facilitates transfer of user programs and/or data to and from USB 2.0 A type RDSDs.
  • HART Pass Through: Enables communication of HART asset management data between HART-capable I/O modules and PC-based asset management tools (requires additional HART-compatible products).
  • Remote Get HART Device Information COMMREQ: Allows user applications to read information from HART devices connected to an RX3i Analog module in an IC695PNS001 RX3i PROFINET Scanner. A UDFB is available for download to automate this logic.
  • Sequence of Events (SoE) Recording: Available through the Embedded PROFINET Controller when used with up to four IC695PNS101 Advanced PROFINET Scanner modules. Supports up to 512 SoE input points with a system storage buffer for up to 128,000 events at a maximum rate of 400 events per second per PNS101. Each PNS101 supports SoE recording with IRIG B time synchronization accurate to 1ms and buffers up to 4000 events from up to four IC694MDL660 32 Circuit Discrete Input modules.
  • Programming Languages: Supports Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, or C.
  • Symbolic Variables: Supports auto-located Symbolic Variables that can use any amount of user memory.
  • Reference Tables: Includes 32k bits for discrete %I and %Q, and up to 32k words each for analog %AI and %AQ. Bulk memory (%W) is also supported for data exchanges.
  • Program Blocks: Supports up to 768 program blocks, with a maximum size of 128KB per block.
  • Device Information: Ability to display serial number and date code in PME Device Information Details.
  • Time Synchronization: Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and Day Light Savings Time (DST) support.
