Usage Features
General Operation:
The coffee maker requires thorough reading of the manual before use. It is equipped with a grounded plug, ensuring safety. The appliance should be placed on a flat surface and kept away from hot surfaces or fire. The power cord should not hang over the edge of a table or counter and should not touch hot surfaces. Close supervision is necessary when children are near the appliance.
Preheating:
To achieve good hot espresso, preheating the appliance, including the metal funnel, steel mesh, and cup, is recommended.
- Fill the detachable water tank up to the "MAX" mark.
- Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel, aligning the tube with the groove, then insert and fix the funnel by turning it anticlockwise from the "lock open" to the "lock closed" position.
- Place a jug on the removable cup shelf.
- Ensure the steam control knob is in the OFF position.
- Connect to power, press the power button. The power indicator will flash during preheating and become solid when preheating is complete.
- Press the 2-cup coffee button to pump water for about 25 seconds to clean the system. Initial noise during pumping is normal as air is released.
Making Espresso (Ground Coffee):
- Remove the funnel by turning it clockwise.
- Add ground coffee into the steel mesh using the measuring spoon (one spoon per cup) and press it tightly with the tamper.
- Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel, align, insert, and fix the funnel by turning it anticlockwise.
- Place a cup on the removable cup shelf.
- After preheating, press the 1-cup or 2-cup coffee button to start brewing. The default brewing times are 15 seconds for 1-cup and 25 seconds for 2-cup.
- Custom brewing times can be set by pressing and holding the 1-cup or 2-cup button for 3 seconds, then pressing it again to start dispensing. The unit will memorize the new setting (up to 45s for 1-cup, 90s for 2-cup).
- The coffee maker stops automatically, and the corresponding indicator turns off when brewing is complete.
- After brewing, remove the metal funnel, discard coffee residue, and rinse under running water after cooling.
Using OriginalLine Nespresso® Capsules:
- Lift the lid of the capsule filter, place an OriginalLine Nespresso® capsule inside, and close the lid.
- Set the capsule filter into the capsule funnel, then place the capsule funnel under the metal funnel holder.
- Insert and fix the funnel into the appliance by turning it anticlockwise.
- Place a hot cup on the removable cup shelf.
- After preheating, press the 1-cup or 2-cup coffee button. Coffee will flow out after a moment. Brewing times are 15 seconds for 1-cup and 25 seconds for 2-cup.
- The maximum working time is 60 seconds; the unit will stop automatically if no operation occurs within 60 seconds.
- After use, press the power button to turn off the machine. Remove the metal funnel, pour out the capsule filter, and rinse after cooling.
Making Cappuccino/Frothed Milk:
- Prepare espresso first, ensuring the steam control knob is in the OFF position.
- Press the Steam button. The Coffee button indicator will extinguish, and the Steam button indicator will illuminate when ready. The Steam button indicator cycles on and off to maintain temperature.
- Fill a jug with about 100 ml of cold whole milk per cappuccino.
- Slowly turn the steam control knob anti-clockwise to release steam from the frothing nozzle. Avoid rapid turning to prevent steam accumulation and potential explosion risk.
- Insert the frothing nozzle about two centimeters into the milk and froth by moving the vessel up and down.
- Once desired froth is achieved, turn the steam control knob to the OFF position.
- Immediately clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge, being careful not to get hurt.
- Pour the frothed milk into the prepared espresso. Sweeten to taste and sprinkle with cocoa powder if desired.
- Press the Power button to turn off the machine.
- If making coffee immediately after steaming, the coffee indicator will flash. Turn the steam control knob to the ON position to pump hot water and cool the unit down.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Turn off and cool down the coffee maker completely before cleaning.
- Clean the housing with a moisture-proof sponge. Regularly clean and dry the water tank, drip tray, and removable cup shelf. Do not use alcohol or solvent cleansers, and never immerse the housing in water.
- Detach the metal funnel by turning it clockwise, remove coffee residue, clean with cleanser, and rinse with clear water.
- Clean and thoroughly dry all attachments.
Cleaning Mineral Deposits (Descaling):
Descaling is recommended every 2-3 months to ensure efficient operation and optimal coffee flavor.
- Fill the water tank with a descaling solution (water and descaler 4:1, or 100 parts water to 3 parts citric acid) up to the MAX level.
- Place the metal funnel (without coffee powder) and a jug in place.
- Press the Power button (indicator flashes), then the Coffee button (ensure steam control knob is OFF). When water flows out, press the Coffee button to stop pumping, and wait for preheating.
- Once the Power button indicator is solid, press the Coffee button to brew two cups of water (approx. 2 Oz), then press the Coffee button to stop.
- Press the Steam button (Coffee button indicator extinguishes). Once the Steam button indicator illuminates, make steam for 2 minutes by turning the steam control knob. Then turn the steam control knob to OFF.
- Immediately press the Power button to turn off the unit, allowing the descaler to deposit for at least 15 minutes.
- Restart the unit by pressing the Power button. Once the Power button indicator is solid, press the Coffee button to brew until no descaler is left.
- Brew with tap water at the MAX level, repeating steps 4-6 three times, then brew until no water is left in the tank to rinse thoroughly.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as rust on metal parts (use recommended descaler), water leaks (clean drip tray, contact service if malfunction), coffee powder on filter edge (get rid of it), acid/vinegar taste (clean mineral deposits, use fresh coffee powder, store properly), coffee maker not working (plug in power cord, contact service), and steam not frothing (wait for steam indicator to illuminate, use high/narrow container, use whole/half-skimmed milk). Users are advised not to disassemble the appliance themselves and to contact a qualified servicing center if the cause of failure is not found.
Environment Friendly Disposal:
Users are encouraged to protect the environment by disposing of non-working electrical equipment at an appropriate waste disposal center according to local regulations.
