Usage Features

Operation: To operate the unit, place it on a level surface. Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before filling the fluid tank to prevent spills.

Fluid Replenishment: Power down the unit using the on/off switch on the rear panel and unplug the power cable. Turn the fluid bottle lid counter-clockwise to unscrew and remove the fluid tank from the main housing. Fill the tank with fluid, then place it back in the housing. Replace the lid on the fluid bottle and turn clockwise to tighten. Plug the power cable back into the unit and power it on. It is crucial to use only high-quality, water-based smoke fluid recommended by the manufacturer. Operating the machine without sufficient smoke fluid can damage the pump and cause the heater to overheat. Never fill with hot liquids or substances classified as 'DANGEROUS WORKING MATERIALS' or 'FLAMMABLE FLUIDS'.

Installation: Install the unit in a well-ventilated area, maintaining a minimum distance of 1m around the unit. Insufficient ventilation can lead to condensation of smoke fluid, creating slippery surfaces and potential accidents. The output aperture should not be oriented directly towards the audience's eyes. For optimal effect, a distance of at least 3m between the unit and the audience is recommended. The unit should only be installed on fire-resistant, scratch-resistant, and water-resistant surfaces.

Controls: The unit features an output nozzle, safety eye, fluid tank, fluid pipe, and a carry handle. On the rear panel, there is a power on/off switch, remote input, power input, fuse, wireless remote dipswitches, DMX dipswitches, 3-Pin DMX input, and 3-Pin DMX output.

Fluid Tank Indicators: The fluid tank illuminates 'Red' during the heating process. It illuminates 'Red & Blue' to indicate the unit is 'Ready to fog' but still heating. Once fully ready to fog, it illuminates 'Blue'.

DMX Dipswitches: An LED above the DMX dipswitches illuminates when a DMX signal is detected.

Wireless Remote Control: The wireless remote has an LED indicator that illuminates when any button is pressed (if dim, replace the battery). It features four fog buttons (1 to 4). Pressing and holding a fog button will cause the machine to output fog for the duration the button is held. The remote is a 4-channel device, allowing multiple units to be operated simultaneously. Units can be assigned to separate channels (one per button) or multiple units can be set to the same dipswitch number and assigned to a single button on the remote. Note that 'ON' on the dipswitches is in the down position.

Wired Remote Control: The wired remote includes:

  1. Timer on/off button
  2. Continuous output button
  3. Manual override button
  4. Timer LED indicator: Illuminates yellow when the timer is active.
  5. Manual ready indicator: Illuminates green when the unit is ready.
  6. Power indicator: Illuminates red when power is on.
  7. Output level adjustment: Adjusts the output level between 0-100%.
  8. Output interval adjustment (Timer mode only): Adjusts the interval between each fog release (0-30 minutes approx.).
  9. Duration adjustment (Timer mode only): Adjusts the duration of fog release at each interval (0-15 seconds approx.). For best results, it is recommended to select "continuous" output and adjust the level to achieve the desired effect.

DMX Mode: The VS 1500 Fogger can be controlled via DMX-512 protocol. It uses 1 DMX channel for output volume (5-100%). DMX addresses are set using dipswitches on the unit. The DMX address table provides guidance on setting the dipswitches for specific addresses. DMX cables must be daisy-chained.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance: Frequent cleaning of the unit is recommended. Ensure the machine has cooled before cleaning. Use a soft, lint-free, moistened cloth to clean the exterior. Remove dust from air vents using an air compressor, vacuum, or soft brush. Avoid using alcohol or solvents. Clean the output nozzle after each use to remove fluid residues and water vapour.

Preventing Clogging: To prevent internal pipe blockages, run a cleaning solution through the unit every 40 hours. The solution should consist of 35% vinegar and 65% distilled water. Fog this solution through the system 10-15 times. To do this, power down the unit, unplug the power cable, and remove the fluid tank. Empty any remaining fog fluid and fill the tank with the vinegar/distilled water solution. Replace the tank, plug in the power cable, and power on the unit. Allow it to heat up and run the machine in a well-ventilated area until the tank is empty of the cleaning solution. DO NOT allow the pump to run dry. After the cleaning cycle, power down the unit, empty any remaining solution, and refill the tank with regular fog fluid. Run the machine briefly to clear any remaining solution from the pump/heater.

Disposal: The recommended fluids are non-hazardous and can be disposed of via the sewage system. The product itself, being Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE), should not be disposed of with household waste. It should be recycled responsibly through designated collection systems to promote sustainable reuse of material resources. Household users should contact their retailer or local government office for recycling information. Business users should consult their supplier regarding disposal terms.

Troubleshooting:

  • No power: Check mains power and fuse.
  • No fog output: Check fluid level, remote connection, and wireless remote batteries.
  • Breaker/Fuse keeps blowing: Indicates a possible electrical short; contact a reseller.
  • Low fog output: Run a cleaning solution through the machine.
  • Fog machine not heating up: Check fuse; possible faulty part; contact a reseller.
  • Remote not working: Ensure the connector is firmly connected. Try another controller. Check fuse and wireless remote batteries.
  • Fluid indicator states no fog, but container is full: Try resetting the fog machine by turning power off and on again; possible faulty part; contact a reseller.

There are no user-serviceable parts inside the unit; all repairs, servicing, and power connection work must be carried out by a qualified technician.
