Overview

This document describes the EURO-PROX Pro Iron, model EP480H2, a household appliance designed for ironing clothes.

Function Description:

The EURO-PROX Pro Iron is a 1600 Watt steam iron that provides various ironing functions, including dry ironing, steam ironing, vertical steam, a water spray function, and a blast of steam feature. It is designed for household use only. The iron helps remove wrinkles from fabrics using heat and steam. The vertical steam function is particularly useful for steaming curtains and drapes while they are still hanging. The water spray function helps tackle stubborn wrinkles by moistening the fabric. The blast of steam feature provides extra, sudden bursts of steam to aid in removing stubborn wrinkles from fabrics like denim, cotton, and linen.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: EP480H2
  • Voltage: 120V., 60Hz.
  • Power: 1600 Watts
  • Soleplate: Stainless Steel
  • Cord: Pivoting cord for left or right-handed use, preventing dragging along the fabric.
  • Safety Features: Auto Shut-Off, Polarized Plug, Anti-Drip Feature, Built-in Anti-Calcium Filter.

Usage Features:

  • Temperature Control: The iron features a temperature control dial with settings indicated by dots (1, 2, and 3) corresponding to different fabric types (synthetics, wool/silk, cotton/linen). The temperature should be selected based on the fabric type, with lower settings for delicate fabrics and higher settings for cottons and linens. An "Ironing Chart" is provided to guide temperature selection.
  • Variable Steam Control: A lever allows adjustment of steam output from minimum to maximum, or to a "0" position for dry ironing.
  • Water Filling: The iron can be filled with regular tap water, though distilled or demineralized water is recommended in hard water areas. It should not be overfilled, and the water filling inlet cover prevents dust and spills.
  • Dry Ironing: To dry iron, the variable steam control lever should be set to the "0" position, cutting off steam flow even if water is in the tank.
  • Steam Ironing: For steam ironing, the temperature dial should be set within the red steam band, and the steam lever adjusted to the desired steam amount. Steam is produced when the iron is held horizontally and stops when placed vertically on its heel or when the steam control is set to "0".
  • Vertical Steam: Activated by pressing the blast of steam button while holding the iron in a vertical position.
  • Water Spray Button: Pressing this button releases a jet of water to moisten fabric.
  • Blast of Steam Button: Provides powerful bursts of steam for tough wrinkles.
  • Auto Shut-Off: A safety function that engages after approximately 7 minutes of non-use. An indicator light flashes when activated. To reset, the iron needs to be lifted and gently rocked back and forth several times.
  • Anti-Drip Feature: This built-in feature helps reduce water spots by cutting off water flow when the iron's temperature is too low for sufficient steam. It minimizes dripping and stains but does not entirely prevent them, especially with frequent steam burst use or low temperatures. The performance improves after 2-3 tankfuls of steaming.
  • Ironing Hints:
    • Always sort articles by fabric type before ironing.
    • Test a small, inconspicuous area (like a seam) if unsure of fabric content.
    • Start with a low temperature and gradually increase.
    • Allow approximately 2 minutes for the iron to cool when reducing temperature for sensitive fabrics.
    • Use an ironing cloth for velour, wool, linen, and silk to prevent shine marks.
    • Never fill the iron with fabric conditioner, starches, or other solutions, as these can damage the steam mechanism.
    • Do not use contaminated water.

Maintenance Features:

  • Emptying the Iron: After each use, the iron should be emptied. This involves setting the variable steam control to "MAX", turning the iron upside down over a sink to drain the water, then resetting the control to "0" and allowing the iron to cool before storage.
  • Self-Cleaning System: To remove calcium and built-up particles, the self-cleaning system should be run at least once a month. This involves filling the water reservoir halfway, heating the iron to maximum temperature, unplugging it, holding it horizontally over a sink, and setting the variable steam control to the "Self-Clean" position. Hot water and steam will be emitted, carrying out lime and dust particles. After the reservoir is empty, the iron is reheated, and the soleplate is wiped with a clean cotton cloth.
  • Cleaning the Exterior: The exterior of the iron can be cleaned with a damp cloth and wiped dry.
  • Soleplate Cleaning: If spray starch is used, the soleplate should be wiped occasionally with a soft damp cloth to prevent deposit build-up.
  • Storage: Always store the iron in an upright position to protect the soleplate. If the iron has not been used for several weeks, it should be held horizontally and allowed to steam for 2 minutes before ironing.

Safety Precautions:

  • Read all instructions carefully before use.
  • Use the iron only for its intended purpose.
  • Do not immerse the iron in water or other liquids.
  • Always turn the thermostat to the lowest position before plugging in or unplugging.
  • Disconnect from the electrical outlet when filling, emptying, or not in use.
  • Do not operate with a damaged cord or after being dropped/damaged. Return to a service facility for repair.
  • Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children.
  • Do not leave the iron unattended when connected or on an ironing board.
  • Be cautious of hot metal parts, hot water, or steam to avoid burns.
  • Never direct steam at people.
  • Do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.
  • If an extension cord is necessary, use a 13-ampere cord and arrange it carefully to avoid tripping.
  • The polarized plug is a safety feature; do not attempt to defeat it.
  • Never use scouring pads, abrasive/chemical cleaners, or solvents on the exterior or soleplate.
  • Never use the iron if it is damaged or dropped, as this could create risks of fire, electric shock, injury, or death.
