Overview

The EURO-PRO The Shark Plus Canister Vacuum, Model EP3005, is a household appliance designed for efficient cleaning of various surfaces. This canister vacuum is equipped with a range of features to enhance usability, versatility, and ease of maintenance, ensuring a thorough cleaning experience for users.

Function Description

The primary function of the EURO-PRO The Shark Plus Canister Vacuum is to provide powerful suction for cleaning dust, dirt, and debris from both floors and carpets, as well as other household surfaces. It operates as a traditional canister vacuum, where the main unit, containing the motor and dust collection system, is separate from the cleaning head, allowing for greater maneuverability and access to tight spaces. The vacuum's design emphasizes ease of use and effective dirt removal, making it suitable for general household cleaning tasks.

Usage Features

The vacuum cleaner is designed with several features to optimize its use and adapt to different cleaning needs:

  • Main Components: The vacuum consists of a main unit, a hose, a curved hose/wand extension, and various attachments. The main unit houses the motor, dust bag, and filters, while the hose and extension provide reach and flexibility for cleaning.
  • Assembly: Assembling the vacuum is straightforward. Users connect the extension tubes to the deluxe automatic floor to carpet attachment, then attach the curved hose/wand extension to the connected tubes. Finally, the hose clamp is connected to the main unit by squeezing the locking switches and pushing it into position until it locks.
  • Deluxe Automatic Floor to Carpet Nozzle: This versatile attachment is a key feature, designed with 3-way adjustability and six soft rubber wheels. This allows for seamless movement forward and reverse, transitioning effortlessly between carpet and floor surfaces without requiring manual adjustments. If the nozzle encounters resistance, users can reduce the suction power using the variable suction control. After use, it's suggested to clean the nozzle with the crevice tool to maintain its effectiveness.
  • Manual Variable Suction Control: Located on the curved hose/wand extension, this control allows users to adjust the suction power according to the cleaning task and surface type. This is particularly useful for delicate surfaces or when the floor nozzle is difficult to move.
  • On/Off Switch: A clearly marked on/off switch on the main unit controls the power to the vacuum.
  • Cord Rewind Button: For convenient storage, the vacuum features an automatic retractable power cord. To extend the cord, users pull it from the rear to the desired length. Once cleaning is complete, the power should be switched off, the plug disconnected from the outlet, and the cord rewind button pressed. If the cord doesn't fully retract, it should be pulled out again and the button pressed once more. A warning is provided to hold the plug when rewinding to prevent it from whipping, and a caution advises against pulling the cord beyond a red mark to avoid damage.
  • Carrying Handle: The main unit is equipped with a carrying handle, making it easy to transport the vacuum from one area to another.
  • Parking Positions: The vacuum can be stored in two convenient parking positions:
    • Upright Parking: The unit can be placed on its side, with the floor nozzle sliding into a locking position where its receptacle rests on top of the unit.
    • Flat Parking: When laid flat on its three wheels, the floor nozzle slides into a locking position with its receptacle resting on the rear side of the unit. These options provide flexible storage solutions, especially in space-constrained environments.
  • Included Tools: The vacuum comes with essential cleaning tools: a dusting brush and a crevice tool. These attachments enhance the vacuum's versatility, allowing users to clean upholstery, tight corners, crevices, and other hard-to-reach areas.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the EURO-PRO The Shark Plus Canister Vacuum. Several features and instructions are provided to facilitate this:

  • Dust Bag Installation and Replacement:
    • Opening the Cover: To access the dust bag compartment, the canister vacuum should be placed in an upright position. The top cover is opened by supporting the bottom of the unit with one hand and pushing on the opening indentation with the thumb of the other hand.
    • Inserting the Bag: The dust bag is held and inserted into the slot at the bottom of the compartment, then tilted forward and locked into place.
    • Closing the Cover: The vacuum cleaner's main cover is then closed. A note emphasizes that the cover will not close if a cloth or paper bag is not properly inserted and locked into the bag holder, serving as a safety mechanism.
    • Dust Bag Types: The vacuum includes both a paper bag and a reusable cloth bag. While the cloth bag offers reusability, paper bags are noted to provide the best cleaning performance and air quality results. Users can choose the type that best suits their needs.
    • Dust Bag Check: Vacuuming new carpet or fine powders can clog the dust bag more quickly, so it's recommended to check the bag more often in such scenarios. The vacuum should never be operated without a dust bag in place.
  • Full Dust Bag Indicator: A red dust indicator light will illuminate during cleaning to signal that the paper bag is full and needs replacement. This indicator functions only at maximum suction power. Users can test it by placing their hand over the end of the curved hose/wand extension while the vacuum is on; the indicator should turn red.
  • Washable Cloth Bag Maintenance: If using the washable cloth bag, it should be emptied for reuse. Periodic washing is necessary, especially when vacuuming fine dust particles that can block suction. To wash, the plastic bag collar attachment must first be removed by unscrewing four screws. The bag should be hand-washed in warm water with laundry detergent until clean. It should not be dried in an electric dryer but laid out or hung to dry before reassembly.
  • Filter Replacement: The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a filtration system to reduce dust and pollen.
    • Pre-Motor Filter: This white polyfoam filter is located inside the vacuum body, behind the dust bag. It should be checked when changing the dust bag and replaced when dirty. To replace, the vacuum body cover is lifted, the old filter is pulled straight up and out, and a new filter is slid into position between the two posts and the motor intake, with the narrow round side down.
    • Post-Motor Filter: This filter is located at the rear of the vacuum. To replace it, the edge of the filter cover is grasped, squeezed, and pulled towards the user, allowing the top of the cover to loosen and be removed at a slight angle. The old filter is then removed and disposed of. A new filter is inserted, ensuring it covers the entire air vent area. Finally, the rear filter cover is replaced by aligning its four tabs with the four slots at the bottom of the filter opening and pushing the top until it snaps into place.

These features collectively contribute to a user-friendly and effective cleaning experience, emphasizing both performance and ease of maintenance for the EURO-PRO The Shark Plus Canister Vacuum.
