Do you have a question about the Euro-Pro Shark EP600 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Shark Turbo Stick Vac, model EP600, is a versatile 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner designed for household use, functioning both as an upright vacuum and a handheld unit. It operates on 120V, 60Hz, with a power consumption of 7.5 Amps (900 Watts).

Function Description:

The primary function of the Shark Turbo Stick Vac is to provide efficient cleaning for various surfaces within a household environment. It can be used as a full-size upright vacuum for floors, including carpets and hard wood, and easily converts into a handheld vacuum for more detailed cleaning tasks. The handheld mode is ideal for radiators, crevices, corners, baseboards, between cushions, furniture, Venetian blinds, books, lamp shades, and shelves, utilizing specialized attachments like the crevice tool and dusting brush. The unit features an ON/OFF power switch with "I" for ON and "O" for OFF. For ease of use and maneuverability, especially on deep pile carpets or hard-to-vacuum surfaces, the angle of the 2-piece metal handle can be adjusted. The vacuum is equipped with a motor protective thermostat that automatically turns the unit off if it overheats, preventing damage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: EP600
  • Voltage: 120V
  • Frequency: 60Hz
  • Power: 7.5 Amps (900 Watts)
  • Filter Type: HEPA-Type Dust Cup Filter
  • Cord: Retractable power cord
  • Attachments: 2-piece metal handle, floor brush, crevice tool, dusting brush, shoulder strap.

Usage Features:

The Shark Turbo Stick Vac is designed for user convenience and adaptability.

  • Assembly: The 2-piece metal handle is inserted into the main body, ensuring the pin rests in its hole. The floor brush attaches to the main body in a similar fashion. The hose connects to the main body by pressing a pin and inserting it into place.
  • Upright Mode: To use as an upright vacuum, the power cord is unwound and plugged into a 120V outlet. Pushing down on the unit in the direction of the arrow provides optimal results on carpets or hard wood floors. The cord can be attached to a cord holder to keep it out of the way during vacuuming.
  • Handheld Mode: Conversion to handheld mode involves disconnecting the metal handle and the floor brush, then attaching the hose. The crevice tool or dusting brush can then be attached to the hose. A shoulder strap can also be attached for comfortable carrying during handheld use.
  • Safety Features: The device has a polarized plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. It is crucial to ensure hands are dry before plugging in the unit and to remove large or sharp objects from the vacuuming path to prevent damage to the dust cup filter. The motor protective thermostat is a key safety feature, automatically shutting off the unit if it overheats. If this occurs, the user must turn off the unit, unplug it, check for blockages (clogged hose or filter), and allow it to cool for at least 45 minutes before attempting to restart.
  • Troubleshooting: A comprehensive troubleshooting guide is provided to address common issues such as the vacuum not operating, weak suction power, dust escaping, or the hose/brushes not picking up debris. Solutions include checking power connections, emptying/cleaning the dust cup, clearing clogs, and cleaning/replacing filters.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the Shark Turbo Stick Vac performs optimally and has a long lifespan.

  • Dust Cup Emptying: The dust cup should be emptied regularly. To do this, the unit must be unplugged. The dust cup is removed by turning it 90 degrees, sliding it out, and then removing the HEPA-Type dust cup filter.
  • Filter Cleaning and Replacement: The HEPA-Type Dust Cup Filter, debris screen, Pre-Motor Filter, and Post Motor Filter are all washable.
    • The debris screen should be rinsed under a faucet until clean and air-dried or dried with a clean dish towel (not in a dishwasher).
    • The HEPA-Type filter cartridge can be cleaned by holding it by the frame flange and tapping it against the inside wall of a dust container to remove dust. Discoloration of the pleated filter material is normal and does not affect performance.
    • For thorough cleaning or if suction is reduced, the HEPA-Type filter should be cleaned vigorously, rinsed under a faucet, and allowed to air dry for 24 hours before re-inserting into the vacuum. This should be done once a month or when suction appears reduced.
    • It is critical that all filters (HEPA-Type, Pre-Motor, and Post Motor) are completely air-dried for 24 hours before being re-installed into the vacuum to prevent motor damage.
    • The HEPA-Type filter, Pre-Motor, and Post Motor filters should be replaced every three months to ensure peak performance.
  • General Cleaning: The exterior of the vacuum cleaner can be wiped with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution, then thoroughly dried. Chemical cleaners should not be used as they can damage the unit.
  • Storage: When not in use, the vacuum cleaner should be stored in a cool, dry place.

The manufacturer, EURO-PRO Operating LLC, provides a one (1) year limited warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for normal household use. Non-durable parts like filters and brushes are excluded from the warranty. For service or assistance, customers can contact EURO-PRO Operating LLC via phone or visit their website.
