Overview

This document describes the Euromatic Radiant Heater, model number RH24W, an electrical appliance designed for indoor household use to provide space heating.

Function Description

The Euromatic Radiant Heater is a portable heating device that uses quartz heating elements to emit radiant heat. It is designed for indoor household use only and is not suitable for commercial, industrial, or trade applications. The heater operates on three heat settings, allowing users to adjust the heat output according to their needs. It features a safety tip-over switch that automatically turns off the power if the appliance tips over, enhancing user safety.

    • Setting 2: Medium (1600W) – two heating elements working
    • Setting 3: High (2400W) – all three heating elements working
  • Safety Features: Tip-over safety switch, safety grille.
  • Compliance: Fully tested and meets standards AS/NZS 60335.1 and AS/NZS 60335.2.30. It also complies with the relevant guidelines of the ACMA and government requirements for electrical device safety, indicated by the RCM Mark.

Usage Features

Connection and Operation: To operate, the heater must be placed on a firm, flat, stable, dry, and heat-resistant surface, ensuring a minimum clearance of 1m at the front and 20cm around all sides from flammable materials. The heat settings knob should be set to the OFF [0] position before plugging the heater into a separate wall outlet socket with a 10A current-carrying capacity. It is crucial not to use extension cords, power boards, or socket adaptors, and to ensure the socket is easily accessible for emergency disconnection.

Heat Settings: The heater offers three heat settings, selected by turning the heat settings knob clockwise:

  • Setting [1] (800W): Activates one heating element for low heat output.
  • Setting [2] (1600W): Activates two heating elements for medium heat output.
  • Setting [3] (2400W): Activates all three heating elements for high heat output. It is recommended to use the highest setting [3] to warm up a room quickly. Once the room reaches a comfortable temperature, a lower setting can be selected to maintain it. For optimal heating, windows and doors should be kept closed when the heater is in use.

Switching Off: To switch off the heater, turn the heat settings knob anticlockwise to the [0] setting. Always unplug the heater from the power supply when not in use.

First Use: During the first use, the heater may produce fumes or an odor as components heat up. This is normal and harmless. It is advised to run the heater at full power for about 30 minutes during its initial operation until any odor or smoke dissipates, ensuring adequate ventilation.

Safety Precautions:

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure outlet voltage matches the appliance rating. Plug into a properly earthed, separate wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or plug adaptors. Keep the power cord fully unwound, untwisted, and away from heated surfaces and traffic areas. Do not operate with wet hands or feet, or if any part of the heater has become wet.
  • Placement: Do not place the heater in front of or immediately below a power outlet, against a wall or furniture, near flammable materials (e.g., curtains, bedding, paper, clothes), or near open flames. Maintain at least 1m clearance from the front and sides/rear of the heater. Avoid long pile carpets or flokati rugs, dusty areas, or areas with petrol, paint, or explosive substances. Do not use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or near bathtubs, showers, or swimming pools.
  • Ventilation: Use only in a well-ventilated area. Do not block air intakes or exhaust openings. Do not place on soft surfaces where openings may be blocked.
  • Supervision: Do not leave the heater unattended when connected to power. Supervise children and vulnerable persons, as the fire guard does not provide full protection. Do not use while sleeping or near a sleeping person.
  • Heat Output: Accessible parts become very hot during use. Avoid touching hot surfaces with bare skin. Allow the heater to cool before moving it. If moving while hot is essential, wear protective oven mitts or gloves.
  • No Thermostat: This heater is not equipped with a device to control room temperature. Do not use it in small rooms occupied by persons unable to leave the room unless constant supervision is provided.
  • No External Timer: Do not operate with program switches, external timers, or other automatic operation appliances due to fire risk if covered or positioned incorrectly.
  • Damage: Do not operate if the power supply cord, plug, or housing is damaged, or if it malfunctions or has been dropped. Contact after-sales support for advice.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Always switch off and disconnect the heater from the power supply before cleaning.
  • Allow the heater to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Dust from grilles can be removed with a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush attachment.
  • Wipe the outside housing with a soft, damp (not wet) cloth, then dry with a dry cloth. Allow thorough drying before reconnecting to power.
  • Do not use flammable, abrasive cleaning agents, scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents, or disinfectants.
  • Never immerse the cord, plug, or heater in water or other liquids. Do not allow water to enter the interior of the heater.

Storage:

  • Unplug the heater from the power point when not in use for extended periods.
  • Clean the appliance as described above.
  • Store the heater in its original carton to protect it from dust.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry place, free from excessive vibration, and out of children's reach.

Service and Troubleshooting:

  • The heater contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open or repair it yourself. Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified technician.
  • In case of malfunction, disconnect the plug immediately and contact the after-sales support center for advice.
  • If the heater fails to operate, ensure it is properly plugged in and that the outlet and circuit breaker or fuse are working correctly before contacting support.
