Storing Your Breast Milk
For models that include a cooler bag:
1. Place frozen ice packs in the included cooler bag.
2. Place the sealed bottle(s) inside and zip the bag closed.
3. When frozen ice packs are used and the cooler bag is kept at room
temperature of 68 70° F (20 21° C), breast milk can be safely stored
for up to 10 hours. Note: Avoid storing the cooler bag in a hot closet,
cabinet, or car.
Using Your Breast Milk
1. Thaw slowly in the refrigerator. Avoid letting milk sit out at room
temperature to thaw. (For quicker thawing, hold container under running
water start with cool water and gradually increase the temperature.)
2. Just before feeding, warm the milk by:
Using a bottle warmer
Holding the sealed bottle under warm, running water, or
Heating water in a cup or other small container, then placing the sealed
bottle in the water to warm.
3. The milk fat may separate during thawing. If so, gently swirl milk (do not
shake) to mix before offering it to baby.
4. Push an Evenflo
®
nipple through the cap ring and screw onto the bottle.
5. Always test the temperature of the milk before feeding.
IMPORTANT!
NEVER microwave human milk or heat directly on the stove.
• Previously frozen milk may be kept in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours after
it has finished thawing. DO NOT re-freeze.
If baby does not finish milk at one feeding, it may be refrigerated and
offered at the next feeding before it is discarded.
DO NOT pour freshly pumped breast milk onto frozen breast milk because
thawing can occur.
• Fill containers 3/4 full, as milk expands with freezing.
After Every Use
To ensure that your breast pump performs well, follow these steps after
every use:
Wipe the pump unit with a clean, damp cloth.
Rinse the flange assembly (all parts EXCEPT the pump unit, tubing,
tubing adapter, diaphragm cap, and AC adapter) in cool water to remove
milk residue.
Hand wash with warm, soapy water.
Rinse thoroughly and air dry before assembly. You may also wash your
flange assembly (after rinsing) on the top rack of your dishwasher.
Use care when handling the valve/membrane assembly during cleaning to
avoid damage. Before each use, visually inspect the individual
components for cracks, chips, tears, discoloration or deterioration. In the
event that damage to the device is observed, please discontinue use until
the parts have been replaced.
• Inspect the tubing for condensation or milk after each use. If condensation
is observed in the tubing, contact Evenflo for replacement parts.
NEVER immerse pump unit or AC adapter in water or attempt to sanitize
in a microwave oven. Damage to parts and oven may occur. Do not boil or
wash tubing or tubing adapter.
