Taking measurements
Summary
Taking a reading in the
P
IN
mode (read-zero method) is a simple
three step procedure:
1
Press the
P
IN
against the sample.
2
Remove the KT-9 after the beep (it is measuring the zero).
3
The result is displayed after the second beep.

IN
mode
The
N
O
-P
IN
mode (sometimes referred to as the zero-read-zero
method) requires that the measuring pin be replaced by the
S
TUD
in order to allow the sensor to come in direct contact with
the samples. The
S
TUD
should be located in the lid compartment
of the storage case (as shown in Figure 12 on page 42) can be
seen in the following figure.

Installing the S
TUD
1
Unscrew the
P
IN
from the sensor and place it in the lid stor-
age compartment of the carrying case.

Screw the
S
TUD
snugly into the hole on the front of the
sensor. You may need a small screwdriver for this
operation.
