Overview

This document outlines the features and usage of an EZVIZ camera, designed for both indoor and outdoor surveillance. The camera offers various functionalities for monitoring, communication, and security, managed primarily through the EZVIZ mobile application.

Function Description

The EZVIZ camera is a versatile surveillance device capable of capturing video, detecting motion, and providing two-way audio communication. It supports both local storage via a Micro SD card and cloud storage for video recordings. The device is equipped with an LED indicator to show its status, an Ethernet port for wired internet connection, and antennas for wireless connectivity. It also features a spotlight and IR light for enhanced night vision capabilities. The camera can be integrated with smart home ecosystems like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control and broader device management.

Usage Features

Installation and Setup:

The camera offers flexible installation options, including ceiling, wall, and pole mounting. A drilling template is provided to assist with accurate placement. For outdoor or humid environments, a waterproof kit is included to protect the Ethernet connection. Initial setup involves connecting the camera to power and then to the internet, either via a wired Ethernet connection or wirelessly through Wi-Fi. The EZVIZ app guides users through adding the camera by scanning a QR code located on the device or its quick start guide. The LED indicator provides visual cues during the connection process, indicating power status, network connection, and readiness for Wi-Fi configuration.

EZVIZ App Operations:

The EZVIZ app serves as the central control hub for the camera. Upon launching the app, users can access a live view of the camera's feed, take snapshots, and record videos. The app allows for selection of video definition (Ultra HD, Hi-Def, or Standard) and offers pan/tilt functionality to adjust the camera's field of view. Key features within the app include:

  • Live View: Real-time monitoring of the camera's feed.
  • Video History: Access to recorded videos, navigable via a calendar and timeline. Both local (Micro SD card) and cloud storage options are supported.
  • Speak (Two-Way Audio): Enables users to talk to and listen to people in front of the camera. The audio mode can be set to Intercom (press and hold to send voice messages) or Voice Call (tap to start a voice call).
  • Intelligent Human Detection: When enabled, the camera sends notifications to the user's phone when a human is detected. Detection sensitivity can be customized to reduce false alarms from vehicles or animals.
  • Active Defense: This feature triggers an alarm and flashes the spotlight to deter intruders upon intelligent human detection. Users can also manually activate the alarm through the app.
  • Privacy Masking: Allows users to define areas within the camera's view that should be excluded from recording or monitoring for privacy.
  • Settings: Comprehensive settings allow users to manage audio, LED indicator status, IR light, alarm notifications, night vision modes (Color Night Vision, Black/White Night Vision, Smart Night Vision), time zone, date format, storage status, device version, image encryption, and flip image orientation.

Night Vision Modes:

The camera offers different night vision modes to suit various lighting conditions:

  • Color Night Vision: Provides color images in dark environments.
  • Black/White Night Vision: Utilizes IR light for black and white images in dark environments.
  • Smart Night Vision: Defaults to Black/White Night Vision but switches to Color Night Vision when motion is detected.

Smart Home Integration:

The EZVIZ camera can be integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This allows users to control the camera using voice commands, such as "show [camera name] camera." To enable this, users need to link their EZVIZ account within the Alexa or Google Home app and ensure "Image Encryption" is turned off in the EZVIZ app settings.

Maintenance Features

Micro SD Card Management:

For local storage, a Micro SD card can be inserted into the camera. After installation, the card needs to be initialized through the EZVIZ app's Device Settings interface. The app displays the storage status, indicating capacity, used space, and free space.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides guidance for common issues:

  • Offline Camera: If the camera is powered on but disconnected from the internet, local recording continues, but cloud recording stops. If powered off, all recordings stop.
  • False Alarms: Users are advised to configure a lower detection sensitivity to prevent alarms triggered by vehicles or animals.
  • SD Card Usage: Instructions are provided for initializing the SD card and enabling motion detection recording.
  • Alarm Notification Issues: Solutions include ensuring the EZVIZ app is running in the background (Android) or enabling message push (iOS), and checking if Motion Detection Notification is enabled. If issues persist, resetting the camera settings by holding the RESET button for 5 seconds is recommended.
  • Live View/Playback Failure: Users should check their network connection, as good bandwidth is required for live video. Refreshing the video or trying a different network can help.
  • Alexa/Google Assistant Integration Issues: Troubleshooting steps include checking internet connectivity, restarting the smart device, re-discovering the device, and ensuring the router is connected to the internet.

Device Management:

Within the EZVIZ app, users can restart the camera or delete it from the EZVIZ cloud. Deleting the camera does not remove videos stored in the cloud, which can still be viewed if the camera is added again. The app also provides access to the user guide and device information such as product category, model, serial number, and QR code.
