PROBLEM
The hearth stops burning.
The flame is poorly
distributed.
SOLUTION
- Check that the gas tap is
open and check the gas
line to see if it is dirty.
- Clean the burner carefully
with a vacuum cleaner.
- Check the thermocouple
circuit.
- The oxypilot activates if
there is too little oxygen in
the air. Ensure that there is
enough fresh air.
- Open the dampers.
- Arrange the wood set
properly (see page 57).
- Clean the burner carefully
with a vacuum cleaner. Be
careful not to damage the
burner with the sharp
edges of the vacuum
cleaner.
CAUSE
- Insufficient gas pressure.
- The pilot light is dirty.
- The thermocouple contact
does not engage properly.
- The oxypilot feature is
activated.
- The dampers are closed.
- The wood blocks are not
positioned properly.
- The burner is quite dirty
because of ash from
combustible materials has
gotten into the burner.

4. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
After use
When the gas hearth has cooled sufficiently, the burner can be
cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth or a vacuum cleaner. Be sure
you replace the blocks in their proper position after cleaning (see
placement of the wood set). If you use a vacuum cleaner, be
especially careful with the burner, because a sharp or heavy object
can damage it. Do not use excessive force on the burner.
Cleaning the glass
Depending on the intensity of use, a layer may form on the glass.
This layer can be removed with a special glass cleaner or ceramic
cook-top cleaner. Follow the instructions on the package. We
recommend that you have the hearth cleaned by an authorised
installer.
A poorly functioning chimney or incorrect placement of the wood
set can cause the glass to become dirty.
Annual Maintenance
The Lumina must be cleaned and checked annually by an
authorised installer. The same is true of the chimney.
Check for:
- any leaks in the gas line;
- proper functioning of the flame control knob, the thermocouple
circuit and the lighting of the burner.
Clean:
- the pilot light system;
- the burner;
- the combustion chamber;
- the flue.
