Overview

The Fenix HP30R V2.0 Headlamp is a high-intensity lighting device designed for various applications, offering powerful illumination and versatile usage. This headlamp is engineered to provide reliable lighting in diverse environments, making it suitable for outdoor activities, professional tasks, and general use where hands-free lighting is essential.

Function Description

The Fenix HP30R V2.0 Headlamp features a sophisticated lighting system that includes one XHP50 white light LED and two XP-G3 S4 neutral white light LEDs, ensuring a broad spectrum of lighting options. These LEDs are designed for longevity, boasting a lifespan of 50,000 hours, which translates to extended periods of use without the need for replacement. The headlamp offers multiple lighting modes: Spotlight, Floodlight, and a combined Spot & Flood Mode, allowing users to select the most appropriate illumination for their specific needs.

The headlamp's operation is intuitive, primarily controlled by a rotary switch. When the lamp is off, rotating the switch clockwise activates the spotlight mode, while rotating it counterclockwise engages the floodlight mode. To turn off the lamp, the switch is rotated to the off state from any active mode. This simple rotary mechanism ensures quick and easy mode selection.

For mode switching, if the headlamp is in floodlight mode, rotating the switch clockwise to the off state and then continuously rotating it will transition to spotlight mode. Conversely, from spotlight mode, rotating the switch counterclockwise to the off state and then continuously rotating it will enter floodlight mode. The combined Spot & Flood Mode can be accessed by a single click of the side switch when either spotlight or floodlight mode is active; another click will exit this combined mode.

Output selection within each mode is also managed by the rotary switch. In spotlight mode, rotating the switch cycles through Low, Med, High, and Turbo brightness levels. Similarly, in floodlight mode, rotating the switch cycles through Low, Med, and High levels. For the Spot & Flood Mode, if starting from spotlight mode, rotating the switch cycles through Low, Med, High, and Turbo. If starting from floodlight mode, rotating the switch counterclockwise cycles through Low, Med, and High. A notable feature is that the lamp does not possess an intelligent memory circuit; thus, each time it is turned on, it will activate in either the Low of the spotlight or the Low of the floodlight mode.

The headlamp is equipped with an integrated die-casting design, which not only enhances its security but also significantly improves heat dissipation. This is crucial for maintaining optimal performance during extended use, especially at higher brightness levels.

Usage Features

The Fenix HP30R V2.0 Headlamp is designed for convenience and adaptability in its usage. It comes with two Fenix ARB-L21-5000 Li-ion batteries, which are recommended for optimal performance. The headlamp also supports Fenix ARB-L18 Series rechargeable Li-ion batteries when used with an ALF-18 battery holder, offering flexibility in power sources. However, it is important to note that non-rechargeable CR123A lithium batteries, rechargeable 16340 Li-ion batteries, and other 18650 Li-ion batteries (not Fenix ARB-L18 Series) are not compatible and are explicitly banned to prevent damage to the headlamp or batteries. Users are advised against mixing batteries of different brands, sizes, capacities, or types.

The headlamp incorporates a power bank function, allowing it to charge other digital devices. To use this feature, the lamp must be switched off. The USB Type-C charging cable is plugged into the battery case's charging port, and the other end is connected to the digital device. A single click of the switch next to the indicators initiates the discharging process, with a discharging current of 2A. During discharge, four indicators flash to show the remaining battery level: over 80%, 50%-80%, 20%-50%, and below 20%. Once discharging is complete, the indicators will go out after a 30-second delay. It is essential to close the anti-dust cover after charging or discharging to maintain the device's waterproof and dustproof capabilities.

Battery level indication is another practical feature. When the lamp is switched off, a single click of the switch displays the battery status via indicators for 3 seconds. Four constant lights indicate 100%-80% charge, three constant lights indicate 80%-60%, two constant lights indicate 60%-40%, and one constant light indicates 40%-20%. A single flashing light signifies a critical 20%-1% charge. This feature is specifically designed to work with Fenix ARB-L21-5000 batteries.

The headlamp is equipped with an Intelligent Overheat Protection system. When used at relatively high modes for extended periods, the lamp can accumulate significant heat. If the temperature reaches 60°C or above, the lamp automatically steps down its output to reduce the temperature. Once the temperature drops below 60°C, the user can reselect the desired modes.

A Low-voltage Warning system is also integrated. When the battery voltage drops below a preset level, the headlamp automatically downshifts to a lower brightness level until it reaches Low mode. If the lamp is in Low mode and the voltage remains critical, it will blink 3 times every 5 minutes to remind the user to recharge or replace the battery. This warning system is also specific to the Fenix ARB-L21-5000 battery.

The headband comes factory assembled and can be adjusted by sliding the buckle to the required length for a comfortable fit. The battery case offers dual wearing options: it can be clipped onto the headband or worn on a belt using the included stainless steel belt clip and extension cable. For helmet use, the battery case can be assembled on the helmet with the provided helmet attachment hooks.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for extending the lifespan and ensuring the optimal performance of the Fenix HP30R V2.0 Headlamp.

Disassembling the sealed head of the lamp is strongly discouraged as it can cause damage and will void the warranty. Fenix recommends using only high-quality Fenix batteries to ensure compatibility and performance.

For periods of extended non-use, it is advisable to remove the battery from the headlamp. This prevents potential damage from electrolyte leakage. Similarly, removing the battery during storage or transportation helps prevent accidental activation.

The O-rings, which are vital for maintaining the headlamp's water seal, can wear out over time with long-term use. To preserve the waterproof integrity, these O-rings should be replaced with approved spares when necessary.

Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts is recommended to improve the lamp's performance. Dirty contacts can lead to issues such as flickering, intermittent illumination, or complete failure to illuminate. If such problems arise, users should first check if the battery needs replacing or recharging, ensuring it is inserted according to the manufacturer's specifications. If the issue persists, the contact points of the battery or headlamp should be cleaned with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol. If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, users are advised to contact the distributor for further assistance.

The headband, if stained with sweat and mud, can be washed directly, ensuring hygiene and prolonging its usability.

The headlamp is designed to be water-resistant with an IP66 rating, meaning it is protected against powerful water jets and dust ingress. This robust construction ensures its reliability in challenging weather conditions.

The LED of this headlamp is not replaceable. If the LED reaches the end of its life, the entire lamp should be replaced. This design choice emphasizes the integrated and durable nature of the lighting system.

In summary, the Fenix HP30R V2.0 Headlamp is a versatile and robust lighting solution, combining powerful illumination with user-friendly features and thoughtful maintenance guidelines to ensure a long and reliable service life.
