The FERREX 20 V Li-ION CORDLESS ROTARY SANDER (model FAES 20-I) is a battery-operated rotary sander designed for polishing and sanding wood, metal, and mineral materials. It features a sanding disc that oscillates in a circular motion, simultaneously rotating around its own axis. The sanding sheet is attached to the sanding disc using a hook-and-loop fastener system. The sanding disc fits all commercially available sanding sheets with a diameter of 125 mm.
Function Description:
The rotary sander is primarily used for sanding and polishing various materials. It is suitable for dry sanding and, with appropriate accessories, for sanding and polishing wood, metal, and mineral substrates. The product is designed for private users in connection with hobby and DIY projects. Any other applications are expressly prohibited and are deemed improper use. The product consists of a dust-protected On/Off switch for switching the product on and off, a speed regulator for adjusting the speed of rotation, and a connecting nozzle for connecting the dust container or a vacuum adapter. The vacuum adapter can be used to connect an external dust extraction device (e.g., a vacuum cleaner).

Usage Features:
- Checking Package Contents: Before first use, lift the product out of the packaging, place it on a stable base, and check for any damage or missing parts.
- Attaching/Detaching Dust Container: The dust container (2) slides over the connecting nozzle (6). To remove, pull it off. This helps manage dust generated during sanding.
- Using a Vacuum Adapter: The vacuum adapter (3) can be connected to the connecting nozzle (6) to attach an external dust extraction device. This is useful for more thorough dust removal.
- Inserting/Extracting the Battery: The rechargeable battery (9) is inserted into the battery holder (5) on the upper edge of the product. Push it along the guide until it audibly clicks into place. To extract, press the release button (10) and pull the battery out. Only use supplied rechargeable batteries or batteries of identical design approved by the manufacturer. Do not use damaged batteries.
- Attaching/Replacing Sanding Sheet: Sanding sheets are attached to the hook-and-loop fastener surface of the sanding disc (7). Ensure the sanding sheet matches the diameter of 125 mm and that the dust extraction openings align with those on the sanding disc. Always switch off the product and remove the rechargeable battery before changing sanding sheets.
- Setting the Speed: The speed regulator (4) allows adjustment of the rotational speed of the sanding disc from 6,000–12,000 rpm. Turn the speed regulator to the corresponding position to set the desired speed.
- Switching On/Off: The product is switched on by pressing the On/Off switch (8) marked with the symbol "I" and switched off by pressing the On/Off switch marked with the symbol "0".
- Sanding and Polishing:
- Attach a sanding sheet to the sanding disc.
- Insert the rechargeable battery.
- Set the speed regulator.
- Switch the product on.
- Bring the product up to the workpiece and place the sanding sheet with its entire surface on the workpiece.
- Run the product over the workpiece in circular motions, moving it alternately transversely and longitudinally to achieve an even sanding pattern.
- For polishing, use a polishing sponge or pad with a hook-and-loop fastening. Apply some polish to the surface to be polished.
- Always start with rough sanding and gradually move to finer sanding sheets for the desired finish.
- The sanding result depends on the grit of the sanding sheet, speed of rotation, and contact pressure. Higher speed and lower contact pressure result in a finer sanding removal.
