Retro, modern, clean, colorful and func-
tional all describe what I was
after, and what I though she
would want. She also
needed to be able to recon-
figure her work space to fit a
variety of the projects she
does so “flexibility” also had
to be added to the equation.
The “last” design require-
ment was she needed to
temporarily house and hide a
tower style computer until
she purchased a new lap
top. Then that pedestal
needed to morph to some
other use. Oh, and they
move frequently, so trans-
portability was an issue, too.
Ready to give up yet? Well, don’t. I
found a way to meet all of these require-
ments and design aesthetics that landed
me a really big hug when she first saw
the finished piece.
The husband arranged to have a very
small “happy birthday” placard discretely
tucked away on one corner of the top so
she would
eventually see
it when he
brought her
into the show.
