Why does my FNM Engine crank but not start, even with smoke from the exhaust?
- TTerrence ThompsonAug 20, 2025
If your FNM Engine cranks but fails to start despite smoke coming from the exhaust, consider these possibilities: Air may be present in the fuel supply system; check and bleed the air. The intake air filter might be clogged, requiring cleaning or replacement. The fuel quality could be wrong or the fuel could be contaminated; in this case, check the fuel, drain and flush the fuel tank, and replace with new fuel. Faulty glow plugs could also be the cause; check and replace them if needed. Finally, the lube oil SAE class or quality might be incorrect for the ambient temperature; replace it with the correct type.
