Why does the pilot light on my Focal Point Indoor Fireplace go out after lighting?
    • C
      christina04Aug 6, 2025
The pilot light might go out due to several reasons. There could be a severe restriction in the gas supply, a faulty thermocouple, a blocked pilot or lint gauze. The control knob might also be fouling the indicator plate. Clear any obstructions, replace the pilot unit if the thermocouple is faulty, clean out any blockages, ensure the control knob doesn't foul the indicator plate, or hold the control knob in for longer.

How to fix a Focal Point FINSBURY when it sparks but the pilot light doesn't ignite?
    • N
      Nancy ArcherAug 11, 2025
If your Focal Point Indoor Fireplace sparks but the pilot doesn't light, it could be due to several reasons: * No gas supply: Check that the isolators are open and the gas supply is on. * Pipework blockage: Clean out any blockages. * Air not fully purged: Re-purge the supply or wait longer. * Spark earthing to metalwork: Reset the gap correctly. * Blocked pilot: Clean it out internally.

What to do if my Focal Point FINSBURY runs for a while and then shuts off?
    • M
      Mrs. Amanda HooverAug 16, 2025
If your Focal Point Indoor Fireplace runs for a time and then cuts off, it could be due to a loose or faulty thermocouple, which needs to be rectified. Another cause could be a blocked pilot, which needs to be cleaned out. Also, dirt or lint in pilot aeration hole or on the lint gauze can cause this problem, so clean thoroughly.

What to do if my Focal Point FINSBURY doesn't spark at the pilot?
    • S
      Stacey McgrathAug 21, 2025
If your Focal Point Indoor Fireplace isn't sparking at the pilot, it could be due to a few reasons: the HT lead might be detached and needs refitting, a faulty piezo unit might need replacement, debris could be shorting out the electrode and needs cleaning, or the spark could be shorting to metalwork under the tray, requiring a check of the HT lead routing under the burner.
  • M
    Mary WalkerAug 27, 2025
Why does the pilot flame shrink when my Focal Point FINSBURY Indoor Fireplace is on high?
    • H
      Heather SandersAug 27, 2025
If the pilot flame shrinks when the fire is on high, it could be due to poor gas flow. Check the pressure with the fire on high, and if the pressure is low, remove any restriction in the pipework or valve. Ensure all isolators are adequately sized and fully open and the meter pressure is adequate. Also, check if the firebox grommet seal is missing and rectify.

Why does my Focal Point FINSBURY Indoor Fireplace smell when first lit or in use?
    • A
      andreahillAug 31, 2025
The smell from your Focal Point Indoor Fireplace when first lit or in use could be due to spillage occurring, so you should carry out a spillage test and rectify any problems. Another reason could be a missing firebox grommet seal, which needs to be rectified.
