Instrument Panel:

The instrument panel includes several key controls and displays:

  • Power Adjustable Steering Column: Controls to adjust the steering wheel to the desired position.
  • Cruise Control:
    • Set Speed: Press and release ON, drive to preferred speed, then press and release SET + or SET -.
    • Adjust Speed: Press SET + or SET - to adjust.
    • Cancel: Press and release CNCL or tap the brake pedal.
    • Switch Off: Press OFF or switch the ignition off.
  • Left Vehicle Information Display: Provides information on various vehicle systems. Controls on the steering wheel are used to choose and confirm settings and messages.
  • Service Engine Soon Light: Illuminates briefly on ignition. If it remains on or blinks, the On-Board Diagnostics system (OBD-II) has detected a problem. Users should drive moderately and contact an authorized dealer.
  • Right Vehicle Information Display: Provides information on various vehicle systems. Controls on the steering wheel are used to scroll, highlight, and make minor adjustments within a selected menu.
  • Steering Wheel Audio and Media Controls:
    • VOL + or -: Increase or decrease volume levels.
    • SEEK ▲ or ▼: Access previous or next media selection.
    • Voice Recognition Button: Access voice recognition.
    • Phone Call Button: Connect or disconnect a phone call.
  • Keyless Starting: Start the vehicle by pressing the START STOP button while fully pressing the brake pedal. Press again without applying the brake to switch off. The engine automatically shuts down if left idling for an extended period, with a message appearing to allow override. A valid key must be inside the vehicle for ignition to start.
  • Hazard Control: Activates hazard lights.

SYNC® System:

SYNC is an in-vehicle communications system compatible with Bluetooth wireless technology-enabled phones and portable media players.

  • Support: For SYNC support, call 1-800-392-3673 (US) or 1-800-565-3673 (Canada), or visit owner.ford.com / syncmyride.ca.
  • Driving Restrictions: Certain features are speed-dependent and restricted when the vehicle travels over 3 mph (5 km/h).
  • SYNC Owner Account: Essential for software updates, customer support, and managing account permissions. Create an account at owner.ford.com (US) or syncmyride.ca / syncmaroute.ca (Canada).
  • Pairing Your Phone:
    1. Ensure vehicle is in park (P), ignition and radio are on.
    2. Press the phone button, then OK when "no phone paired" appears.
    3. Select OK when "Find SYNC" appears, then put phone into Bluetooth discovery mode.
    4. Enter the six-digit PIN displayed by SYNC on the radio.
  • Using Voice Commands: Press the voice button, wait for the tone and "Listening" to appear, then speak commands. Tips include ensuring a quiet interior, waiting for the prompt, speaking naturally, and interrupting the system by pressing the voice button.
  • Using Your Phone with SYNC: Supports answering/ending calls, privacy mode, dialing, redialing, call waiting, and caller ID. Phone-dependent features include text messaging and automatic phone book download.
    • Making a Call: Press the voice button, then say "Call [contact name]" or "Dial" followed by the number.
    • Answering Calls: Press the phone button to answer, or press and hold to hang up.
  • Accessing Digital Media: Plug device into a USB port, press the voice button, and say "USB" to control media via voice commands (e.g., by artist or album).

SYNC® 3 System:* A revolutionary way to connect with your vehicle, offering touchscreen and voice command interaction.

  • SYNC Owner Account and Updating: Log in to update SYNC via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Home Screen: Access by pressing the Home button. Displays audio, phone, and settings.
  • Using Voice Recognition: Press the voice button on the steering wheel and wait for the prompt. Commands are listed in the SYNC 3 chapter of the Owner's Manual or in this guide.
  • Pairing Your Phone (First Time):
    1. Select "Add a Bluetooth Device."
    2. Follow on-screen instructions.
    3. Search for the system on your phone.
    4. Select your vehicle.
    5. Confirm the six-digit number matches.
    6. Touchscreen indicates successful pairing.
    7. Phone may prompt for permission to access information.
  • Using Your Connected Phone: Use voice commands to make, receive, accept, and reject calls. Text messages can also be sent/received.
  • Smartphone Connectivity: Supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for phone access, voice assistant, messaging, music, and calls. Note that some SYNC 3 features are disabled, and most CarPlay/Android Auto features use mobile data.

Comfort Features:

  • Audio: Select from AM/FM radio, USB, Bluetooth Stereo, and Apps.
    • Presets: Tune to a station, then press and hold a preset button. Two banks for AM, three for FM, and three for SiriusXM* are available.
  • Climate: Adjust temperature, airflow, fan speed, and other climate features via touchscreen or voice commands.
  • Navigation:* Two modes: Map mode (2D city maps, 3D landmarks, 3D city models) and Destination.
    • Destination: Select "Destination," then "Search" to find by street address, partial address, city, point of interest, intersection, or latitude/longitude. Press "Start" to begin guidance.
  • Heated or Climate Controlled Front Seats:* Press the heated or cooled seat icon repeatedly to cycle through modes. Ignition must be on.
  • Second-Row Heated Seats:* Press the heated control repeatedly to cycle through modes. Ignition must be on.
  • Adjustable Pedals:* Controls on the left side of the steering column. Press arrows to move pedals closer or farther. Adjust only when vehicle is stopped and in park (P).
  • Heated Steering Wheel:* Use the touchscreen, press the icon to switch on/off.
  • Memory Function:* One-touch recall of personalized features (driver seat, power mirrors, adjustable pedals*, power steering column*). Program by adjusting features, then pressing and holding the desired preset button. Can also program to transmitter.
  • Head Restraints:
    • Raise: Pull up.
    • Lower: Press down while holding the guide sleeve adjust and release button.
    • Tilt: Gently pull top forward. Tilting forward again releases to upright position.
  • Ambient Lighting:* Access via Settings icon, then Ambient Lighting. Touch desired color, use scroll bar for intensity. Press active color or drag to zero intensity to switch off.
  • Moonroof:* Overhead console controls with one-touch open/close. Press control a second time to stop movement. Press again for full open. SLIDE control for open/close, TILT control for vent. Sunscreen can be manually opened/closed.

Third-Row Seat:*

  • Fold and Stow:
    1. Remove objects from seat and floor stowage tub.
    2. From rear, fold head restraint by pulling release strap.
    3. Fold seatback by pulling and holding red strap while pushing seatback forward. Release strap once it rotates.
    4. To fold fully into floor, release seat latches by pulling and holding short black strap, then pulling headrest release strap.
  • Unstow:
    1. Unlatch and lift seat out of floor tub by squeezing and pulling handle. Push seat over when vertical.
    2. To return seatback to upright, pull red strap, then pull long strap on seatback to raise.
    3. Pull head restraints up.
    • Note: Ensure seat latches to vehicle floor to prevent danger during sudden stops.
  • PowerFold® Third-Row Seat:* Works only when transmission is in park (P) and liftgate is open. Buttons are behind third-row seats on left-side, quarter-trim panel.
    • RH/BOTH/LH: Select right, both, or left seat.
    • STOW: Stow seat into tub floor.
    • FOLD: Fold down seatback.
    • NORMAL: Return to normal seating position.
  • Power Liftgate:* Automatic open/close. Press remote twice within three seconds to open. Press twice again to stop. Operate via button on instrument panel.

Convenience Features:

  • Integrated Keyhead Transmitter and Intelligent Access Remote Entry Icons:*
    • Lock: Press once to lock all doors. Press again within three seconds to confirm.
    • Unlock: Press once for driver door, again within three seconds for all doors.
    • Panic Alarm: Press to activate. Press again or switch ignition on to deactivate.
    • Liftgate: Press twice within three seconds to open.
    • Car Finder: Press twice within three seconds to locate vehicle (horn sounds, lamps flash).
  • Intelligent Access:* Unlock/lock vehicle without removing key from pocket/purse when key is within 3 feet (1 meter).
    • Unlock: Touch unlock sensor on back of door handle, then pull handle.
    • Lock: Touch lock sensor on door for approximately one second.
  • Remote Start:* Start engine from outside using key. Press then press twice within three seconds. If keyless starting, press push button ignition switch on instrument panel while applying brake pedal. If integrated keyhead transmitter, switch ignition on before driving. Turn off from outside after remote start by pressing once.
  • AutoWipers:* Rotary control on wiper lever adjusts sensitivity. Low sensitivity for large water, high sensitivity for small water. Note: Switch off before car wash.
  • 110-Volt Power Outlet:* On back of center console. Powers devices up to 150 watts. Available when ignition is on and battery voltage is above 11 volts. Indicator light on means it's working.
  • Universal Garage Door Opener:* Built-in wireless transmitter on driver visor. Program for security systems, entry gates, home/office lighting.
  • SecuriCode™ Keyless Entry Keypad: Near driver window. Lock/unlock doors using factory five-digit code (found on owner's wallet card) or personal code. Press each number within five seconds. If equipped with memory positions, unique personal entry codes recall corresponding driver memory positions.
    • Unlock All Doors: Enter code, then press 3-4 within five seconds.
    • Lock All Doors: Press and hold 7-8 and 9-0 at same time (with driver door closed).
  • MyKey®: Program driving restrictions (speed, limited volume) to promote good driving habits.

Function Features:

  • Active Park Assist:* Detects parallel parking spaces and automatically steers vehicle (hands-free). User controls accelerator, gearshift, and brakes. Visual and audible instructions.
    • Start: Press P button. Use direction indicator for search side.
    • Stop: Grab steering wheel or press P button again.
  • Rear View Camera: Provides video image of area behind vehicle when in reverse (R). Guidelines alert to proximity of objects. Note: Clean lens with soft, lint-free cloth if obstructed.
  • SelectShift® Automatic Transmission: Use paddles on steering wheel or gearshift to change gears without clutch.
    • Gearshift Lever Controls: Push (+) to upshift, (-) to downshift.
    • Steering Wheel Paddles: Pull right (+) to upshift, left (-) to downshift.
  • Collision Warning System:* Alerts to collision risks. Sensor detects rapid approach to other vehicles. Red warning light flashes, tone sounds. Brake support pre-charges brakes. System does not automatically activate brakes, but applies full stopping power with light pedal press. Adjust sensitivity via information display.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control:* Adjusts speed to maintain set distance from vehicle ahead. Select from four gap settings via gap controls on steering wheel.
  • Rear Parking Aid: Sounds warning tone for obstacles near rear bumper when in reverse (R) and traveling less than 3 mph (5 km/h). Tone frequency increases as object gets closer.
  • Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) and Cross Traffic Alert:* Radar sensors help determine vehicles in blind spot zone. Cross traffic alert warns of approaching vehicles from sides when in reverse (R). Indicator light in exterior mirror, tones, and messages. Note: Visibility aids do not replace need to watch where vehicle is moving.

Essential Information:

  • Refueling:
    1. Ignition off.
    2. Fully open fuel door.
    3. Insert nozzle up to first notch, leave inserted.
    4. Keep nozzle level to prevent impact on fuel flow or premature shut-off.
    5. Slowly raise and remove nozzle. Fully close fuel door.
    • Fuel Container: Use fuel filler funnel included with vehicle. Aftermarket funnels may not work with capless system.
  • Fuel Tank Capacity/Fuel Info: 18.6 gallon (70.4 liter) capacity. Recommend regular unleaded gasoline with 87 octane. Premium fuel for severe duty/trailer towing. Use only UNLEADED fuel or UNLEADED fuel blended with max 15% ethanol and min 87 octane.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System: Low tire pressure warning light (!) illuminates if tires are under-inflated. Stop, check, and inflate tires to proper pressure.
  • Location of Spare Tire and Tools: Under carpeted floor panel in rear. If third-row seat is stowed, unstow to access. Dissimilar spare tire for emergency use only, replace as soon as possible.
  • Trailer Tow:* Consult Owner's Manual for weight, details, limitations, safety, and equipment. Note: Do not tow with mini spare tire or exceed GVWR/GAWR.
  • Trailer Sway Control:* Reduces trailer sway by applying brake force to individual wheels and/or reducing engine power. Stability control warning lamp flashes, message appears. Pull over and check equipment.
  • Towing Your Flex: Refer to Owner's Manual for limitations on towing vehicle behind RV or other vehicle.
  • Rear Window Buffeting: Pulsing noise when one window is open. Lower opposite window slightly to reduce noise. Control to open/close window.
  • Post-Crash Alert System™: Flashes direction indicators and sounds horn (intermittently) in serious impact that deploys airbag. Horn/lamps turn off when: hazard control button pressed, panic button pressed, or vehicle runs out of power.
  • Roadside Assistance: 24-hour emergency roadside assistance. US: 1-800-241-3673. Canada: 1-800-665-2006.
