Driving
If the indicator light does not
illuminate when the ignition is
switched on or if it stays
illuminated whilst driving, it
indicates a malfunction. (Unless the
system has been switched off by the
driver, see below.) During a
malfunction, the system will be
switched off automatically.
Switching off the ESP
When driving in deep snow or sand
you may find a benefit in switching
the system off, for example to
“rock” the vehicle out of snow.
The system can be switched off
manually by pressing and holding
the ESP switch for at least one
second. When the system is
switched off, both the ESP
indicator light in the instrument
cluster and the OFF in the switch
will illuminate. The system can be
re-enabled by pressing the switch
again.
Each time the ignition is switched
on, the system is automatically
selected.
If the vehicle is equipped with a
Message Centre, ESP SYSTEM
FAULT will appear in the display.
Have the system checked by an
expert.

If the vehicle is equipped with a
Message Centre, ESP OFF will
appear in the display. The system
can be re-enabled by pressing the
switch again.
