Electronic Stability Control
Helps the driver maintain vehicle control in adverse
driving situations or when making evasive maneuvers
on slippery pavement
Monitors vehicle’s cornering behavior with steering
angle, lateral acceleration and yaw rate sensors, and
automatically makes braking and throttle adjustments
to match vehicle’s direction to the drivers intention
using Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction
Control components
AdvanceTrac automatically activates whenever the
vehicle is started, but may be turned off for certain
situations such as when “rocking” a vehicle stuck in
mud or snow
NOTE: See the Safety section in the Source Book
Appendices or on eSourceBook for more information.
Traction Control
Included with AdvanceTrac
Uses engine control to reduce engine power (torque) to
the drive wheels and help maximize available traction
on slippery or loose driving surfaces at any speed
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
Included with AdvanceTrac
Helps drivers to maintain steering control in emergency
or other hard-braking situations
Electronically “pumps” the brakes several times per
second when the computer-controlled sensors indicate
wheel lockup during hard braking
Electronic Brake Force Distribution
Automatically balances the front-to-rear brake force
distribution to help reduce the tendency for rear-
wheel lockup
Optimizes braking performance according to vehicle
load of passengers and/or cargo
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Sensor-based system alerts the driver to significant
underinflation in any of the tires, excluding the spare
Pressure sensors detect actual tire pressure and
activate a warning light in the vehicles instrument
cluster when a tire is significantly underinflated
NOTE: See the Safety section in the Source Book
Appendices or on eSourceBook for more information.
