• Meets zero fuel-based emissions standards by
demonstrating zero fuel-based evaporative emissions
• Ford covers the emissions performance of its
California-emissions-certified PZEVs registered in
CA, CT, MA, ME, NJ, NY, RI and VT with a 15-year or
150,000-mile (whichever occurs first) limited warranty
on emissions components (OR, PA and WA do not
require the extended PZEV warranty)
• Scores a 9.5 (10 is the highest score) on the EPA’s
Green Vehicle Guide (epa.gov/greenvehicles/Index.do)
– Only a Zero Emissions Vehicle (battery electric or
fuel cell) receives a higher score
A CLOSER LOOK: What Is a PZEV?
A Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) is certified to
emit no more than 6.5 lbs. of hydrocarbon pollutants
over 120,000 miles of driving. By comparison, a vehicle
certified to the California Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV II)
or Federal Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions standard emits about
29 lbs. over 120,000 miles.
Under today’s criteria, vehicles that achieve a PZEV rating
earn 9.5 on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green
Vehicle Guides. Only a zero emissions vehicle (battery
electric or fuel cell) receives a better score.

To achieve a PZEV rating, a vehicle must meet
certain criteria:
• Meet the super ultra low emissions vehicle (SULEV)
standard for tailpipe pollution
• Demonstrate zero fuel-based evaporative emissions
• Manufacturer’s warranty must ensure that
emissions-related components are covered for
15 years/150,000 miles
