The on-board computer shows information
on the average fuel consumption in the trip
data menu ß (Y page 75).
DEFconsumption
DEF consumption is approximately 2to4%of
fuel consumption.
Engine oil consumption
After running-in the engine, oil consumption
may reach 0.2 %ofthe vehicle's fuel consump-
tion.
Increased distance covered and more arduous
operating conditions could result in vehicles
exceeding this value.
Limiting the speed
G
WARNING
If the vehicle combination swerves, you
could lose control of the vehicle combina-
tion. The vehicle combination may even
overturn.There is arisk of an accident.
On no account should you attempt to
straighten up the vehicle combination by
increasing the speed. Reduce your speed
and do not countersteer. Brake if necessary.
On vehicles with aspeed limiter, the maximum
speed of the vehicle is limited according to
national legal requirements, e.g. to approx-
imately 56 mph (90 km/h).
The engine speed is automatically limited
when the restricted top speed is reached.
Take this into account when overtaking.
Warning tone
!
If the accoustic warning sounds and the
red event window with the 5 symbol
appears in the on-board computer, the oper-
ating safety of the engine is jeopardized.
Do not start the vehicle or stop the vehicle
immediately paying attention to the traffic
conditions. You could otherwise damage the
engine.
Awarning tone sounds if:
R
the driver's door is opened with the low-
beam headlamps switched on and with the
key in the ignition lock in the radio position
R
the driver's door is opened with the parking
lamps switched on and the ignition off
R
the immobilizer is activated
R
you do not depress the brake pedal when
the hill holder is activated and the vehicle is
stationary
R
the vehicle is stationary for approximately
9minutes with the engine runningand a
gear selected
R
you select the reverse gear
R
you turn the ignition lock to the g position
or remove the key when the frequent-stop
brake is activated and the parking brake is
released
R
you exceed the maximum permissible
engine speed
R
the speed or engine speed is too high when
making agear change
Awarning tone sounds in addition to the event
window appearing in the display of the on-
board computer if:
R
the distance control assistant warns you
that there is arisk of collision with the vehi-
cle in front
R
Active Brake Assist is activated and there is
arisk of collision
R
the coolant level is too low or the permissi-
ble coolant temperature (approximately
234 ‡) (112 †) is exceeded The operating
safety of the engine is jeopardized by this
R
you are driving faster than 25 mph
(40 km/h) with shuntinglevel activated
R
the instrument cluster and/or the on-board
computer is malfunctioning. Important oper-
ating information, maintenance information
or indicator and warning lamps can no lon-
ger be displayed
R
adoor is opened and the parking brake is
not engaged
