Before washing the vehicleinanautomatic
car wash, foldinthe exteriormirrorsand
switch off the windshieldwipers. Otherwise,
the exteriormirrorsand windshieldwipers
could be damaged.
Make sure thatthe exteriormirrorsare fully
foldedout againwhenyou leavethe auto-
matic car wash.
If the vehicleisverydirty,pre-wash it before
youput it throughthe automatic car wash.
After the automatic car wash, remove the wax
fromthe windshieldand the wiperblades. This
prevents smearing and reduceswiper noise
which occurasaresultofresidue on the wind-
shield.
Cleaningthe engine

Observe the following noteswhencleaning
the engine.Thisavoids malfunctions and
damage to the engine.

When using high-pressure or steamclean-
ers,donot point the spraydirectlyat
electrical components and electriccables.

Make sure thatnowater enters the air
intake and ventilationopenings.

Treat the engine with preservative agents
after it hasbeencleaned. When doing so,
protect the belt drive system fromthe
preservative agent.

Onlyuse wax-based protective agents for
enginesthatcomply with Sheet no.
385.4 of the Mercedes-Benz Specifica-
tions for Service Products.
In addition, observe the notesinthe "High-
pressure cleaning" section(Ypage 158).

Do not useacidicoralkaline cleanerwhen
cleaning light-alloy wheels.These can cause
corrosion of the wheelnuts or the balance
weight safety springs.
Cleanthe light-alloy wheels regularly.

Dispose of empty containers, cleaning
cloths and careproducts in an environmen-
tally responsiblemanner.
Observe the instructions for careproducts.
Do not letthe engine runlongerthanneces-
sary when stationary.
The filter elements for the engine aircleaner
must not be cleaned. Tapping,blowing or
washing outthe filter mediumcould lead to
structural changesand damage.Inthiscase,
the required separation efficiency of the filter
element can no longerbeguaranteed.This
mayleadtoincreased wear and areduced
engine servicelife. Replace airfilter elements.
The implied warranty is otherwiseinvalidated
and the engine could be damaged.
