Battery care
!
Dirtybatteryclamps and batterysurfaces
cause leak currents which lead to the bat-
teries discharging.
!
Do not use cleaning agents containing
fuel. Cleaning agents containing fuel cor-
rode the batteryhousing.
!
If dirt gets into the batterycell, battery
self-discharge will increase and the battery
may be damaged.
Observe the following on batterycare:
X
Always keep the terminal clamps and bat-
tery surfaces clean and dry.
X
Lightly grease the undersides of the battery
terminal clamps with acid-resistant grease.
X
Only clean the batteries with the cell caps
screwed in.
Otherwise, dirt can enter the batterycells.
X
Only clean the batteryhousing with com-
mercially available cleaning agents.
X
Recharge batteries that are not in use with a
no-load voltage of less than 12.4V.
Replacing the batteries
Daimler Trucks NorthAmerica recommends
that you replace the batteries with batteries of
the same type. If you use another type of bat-
tery, have the batterytype set in the on-board
computer by aqualified specialist workshop.
